While in the MTC my district and many others worked in the call center. For those who don't know what that means, we took and followed up on the orders placed for free materials from the church.
One day I did an out-bound call to see if this person wanted missionaries. She told me she read her copy of The Book of Mormon and liked it. She did want to know more but she was concerned about some things she had heard about the church. When I offered to address her concerns, she told me she had a friend that was Mormon and that she got some answers from him. When I explained my purpose as a missionary she told me her friend had just left on his mission. I asked to where and it was to the Nebraska Omaha Mission. Her friend happened to be Elder Beyers, who was in the call center with us at that very moment. I asked if she would like to talk to him and she said yes.
I don't know the full details of what happened after that, but I know she had some concerns about beliefs that he was able to address and that he was able to testify to her and invite her to speak with the missionaries.
God is real. He does love us. When we get hung-up or have hard times in our lives, he tries to help us, if we will let him. Even if it means he has some random stranger, from the call-center at Provo, Utah, call your mom's house in Virginia and get your friend on the phone to tell you to listen to The Gospel!! |
