Kelly Mann's passing 27 Jun 2008
KELLY D. MANN

A funeral for Kelly D. Mann of Durham will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 735 W. East Ave. in Chico. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 27, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway in Chico.

He died Sunday morning of natural causes at home.

He was born November 21, 1959, in Fall River Mills, California, to Laddy and Peggy Mann. Kelly's father passed away when Kelly was four years old. Peggy was later married to Daniel Simpkins who raised him.

They eventually settled in Napa, California, where he attended school and graduated from Vintage High School in 1978. He attended Chico State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1991. He also attended Butte College and received a certificate in Alcohol and Drug Studies in 1995.

He worked as a substance abuse counselor since 1995, working the last 7 years for Coulsa County as a Counselor 2 in the Drug and Alcohol Department.

He served his church for 2 years as a full-time missionary in the Boston Massachusetts Mission and the Manchester New Hampshire Mission from 1986-1988.

His passion was fishing. He spent the evening before he passed away fishing at Horseshoe Lake. He loved reading and having fun. He served in many different capacities in his church and especially loved teaching classes on the scriptures. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Linda, married for 19 years; his parents Dan and Peggy Simpkins of Capay, CA; his nephew Glenn Simpkins of Capay, CA; his brother, Joseph and his family of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his sisters, Susan of Pacific Grove, CA, and Kathy and her family of Lakewood, Washington.

He is also survived by his parents-in-law of Casper, Wyoming; sister-in-law, Shelly and her family of Upton, Wyoming; brothers-in-law, Pepe and his family of Calgary, Canada, John and his family of Elk Grove, CA, Tony and his family of Gilbert, Arizona, Eric and his family of Gilbert, Arizona.

Sister Joyce Harding 04 Jan 2008
Hello everyone! I am posting this as many places as I can think of so that people are aware. Sister Joyce Harding (she and her husband served at the JSM in Sharon, VT) passed away this week. Here is the link to her obituary:

There is an online guest book for those who would like to sign it.

Take care everyone! I miss New England (not right now though... snow in Maine was the WORST...well, ice storms were the worst, but the snow was BAD!) Love you!

Just Called! 15 Nov 2005
I received my call to New Hampshire last week! I am attending BYU and trying to get ready for the mission now. Are there any returned sisters that can give me some pointers on what to bring? I would love to chat!

Spanish? 01 Jul 2005
I was pretty suprised when I saw that I was called to a spanish speaking mission in NH. Has anyone else out there done the whole spanish thing? I looked and saw that the only area with a high hispanic population was in Massachusits. As a spanish speaker am I destined to Massachusits?

Looking for someone 26 Nov 2004
Hey everyone! I was thinking about my "greenie" area and was wondering about a guy that we taught. His name was Peter Rand. He lived in Greene, Maine (my area was Lewiston, ME). Does anyone know what happened to him? I was there the end of 1997 and beginning of 1998. I heard that he eventually got baptized, but I was never sure. Thanks! Sister JoDee Summers

Mission Split 14 Sep 2004
I overheard somewhere that the mission split and Maine was it's own mission.

Can anyone confirm or deny that?

WEBMASTER (Craig Olsen): This is just a rumor, and not true. The only changes that have happened recently are Lake Placid New York and Plattsburg New York are apart of the Utica New York Mission. And Keene New Hampshire is apart of the Boston Mass. Mission.

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lordís work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
