Married, five children, six grandchildren. Graduated from USU, master's degree in Instruction Technology 27 years US Army, Military Intelligence, Commanded 141st MI Bn (Linguist), ret Colonel. Church callings: Seminary instructor (early morning), Institute instructor, Gospel Doctrine teacher, Bishopric (3X), High Council (4X), Korean Servicemen's D P, I was employed as the Director of Concurrent Enrollment at USU and as Ass't Prof of Inst. Technology. My wife/I served a full time mission in the Oklahoma City Mission in 2006 and were called as the military liaison at Ft. Sill. & served as the 2nd counselor in the MP.
Of the 27 years I spent in the US Army, 2 years were in Armor/Cav and 25 years were in Military Intelligence. In 1971-78 I received training in tactical/strategic intelligence and aerial recon. Following assignments as a Battalion S2, imagery interpretation platoon leader, and G2 Air for the 4th Inf Div (M), I attended the Post Graduate Intel Course and earned a master's degree in strategic intelligence. I was assigned to the Pentagon. While in the Utah National Guard's 141st and 142nd MI Battalions and 300th MI Bde (these are all linguistic units), I served as a detachment commander and company commander and was the commander of the 141st MI Bn (Ling). My final assignment was on the staff of the 300th MI Bde (ling). The Army was good to me and I had some great assignments while on active duty; however, the 20 years I spent serving with approx 1000 other returned missionaries in the Utah NG's Linguistics was the highlight of my career.
My wife & I are currently serving (2007) as officiators in the Logan Temple. A few months ago I had an experience at the veil of the temple that prompted me to learn the veil ceremony (tobari no gishiki) in Japanese. I haven't been able to use it yet, but being a good Boy Scout I am trying my best to be prepared.

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
