After returning from the Japan-Okinawa Mission I finished my schooling. I received a Bachlor of Arts degree in Accounting and an MBA degree, both from the University of Utah. I was hired out of school by Envirotech Corporation and spend five years (Feb 1973 to Dec 1977) in Tokyo with a joint venture company formed by Envirotech Corp. and Sumitomo Heavy Industries. Three of our four sons were born in Tokyo.

I returned to Salt Lake City in 1977 where we spent the next twenty years with Eimco Process Equipment Company. During that time the Eimco Division was purchased by Baker Hughes Inc.

In 1997 I was transferred to Houston Texas. We have enjoyed Houston. I do not miss the snow but it sure is a long way from Utah where all of our children and grandchildren live. We make the drive to Utah twice a year.

My wife Merrilee and I are the parents of four sons, all who reside in Utah. We are the grandparents of twelve as of April 2015.

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
