Den Frelses Arme Frogner Oslo .. had great Kjottboller.
Restaurants I remember from that period were Den Runde Tonne and a little restaurant off the Jernbanne at Grorud where we could get Whale meet at a reasonable price. There was an excellent Bakeri on Carl Johans Gate. and also a place where we could get Iskrem near the StorTing. Kriner and I found an excellent little hole in the wall place up on Bekkelagshogda. Funny how the main food I remember was very good cod fish meals.
As I think back the only other places that stick in my mind are the hotel in Tromso where I had RommeGrot and a bakery in Sandnes where we bought Napoleoner Kaker on Friday afternoon. .. oh yes and the pier in Tromso where Seeley and I sat eating fresh bread, mayonnaise and huge shrimp (from a paper bag we just bought from a ship newly in from fishing) while we watched the fish in the water 10 ft below go for the shells we dropped. |
