Taylor was born August 27, 1962, in Laramie, Wyoming the third child of LaVoy Olney Taylor and Joanna Van Auken Taylor. He died April 7, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Thor attended Salt Lake Christian School, Thoreau School, Emerson School and Cokeville, Wyoming high school. He graduated from East High School and seminary in Salt Lake City.
In his youth Thor was a member of LeGrande Ward and fulfilled an LDS mission in Cleveland Ohio mission.
Thor had an extensive knowledge of the scriptures and was especially interested in biographies of early pioneers and church leaders and church history. He worked on his own family history.
Thor Taylor was an exceptional athlete. and enjoyed keeping up with sports. He participated in the Deseret News marathon and many other local and national races.
Services will be Wednesday noon at the LDS 12th ward, 630 East First South. The family will welcome remembrances and stories about Thor at the services.
The family has chosen Treatment Advocacy Center (treatmentadvocacycenter.org) for memorials for Thor because from early adulthood he suffered from schizophrenia. The family appreciates Valley Mental Health especially Joe and Mike. Many friends helped Thor to survive his illness and enjoy and appreciate life over the years.
Thor is survived by his father of Montpelier, Idaho; mother Buffalo, Wyoming; sisters Wendy and Trudy; nieces Catrina, Elisha and Andrea. His brother Tyrone died in 2007
