"Nauvoo (Ill.) Visitors Center: Arthur W. Elrey Jr., 67, is former president of the Nigeria Aba and Oklahoma Tulsa missions. He has served as regional representative, stake president and patriarch. He is a retired administrator of a mental health center. He and his wife, Glenalyn Marshall Elrey, are members of the Bonanza Ward, Tucson Arizona Rincon Stake."

President Elrey's Obituary

Arthur William Elrey, Jr. Was born in Los Angeles, CA on March 29, 1925 to Arthur William Elrey, Sr. and Jayne A. Thatcher. He passed away on September 2, 2010 in Tucson, AZ after an illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Glenalyn; four children, Bilynda (Mark) Drews, Samuel T. (Elaine) Elrey, Martha (Ralph) Mayberry and Matthew T. (Lorelyn) Elrey; 30 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He served in the National Guard during the Korean conflict. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Woodbury College in Los Angeles, CA, Masters Degree in Social Work at The Worton School in PA. He was an Administrator for the Arizona Children's Home Association and La Frontera Center. He retired in 1986. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life. He and his wife faithfully served on four missions: Legos, Nigeria; Aba, Nigeria; Tulsa, OK; and Peoria, IL. He was a faithful supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He was presented with the Silver Beaver Award. He will be laid to rest in Logan, Utah. He will be missed by all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6901 E. Kenyon Dr., Tucson, Arizona. No viewing will be held. Bishop Michael Waldbillig conducting. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
