RESULT OF WORK IN 1978 26 May 2005
I would like to share an experience that happened in 1992 that has a connection to our mission experiences. In 1992 I was in the hospital having just come out of a coma from a serious illness. Two people walked into my hospital room whom I had never met. They introduced themselves to me as the "Browns" and new members of our ward. It was Brother Brown and his daughter Jennifer. Over time we became friends. In 1978 Elders Hawkins and Dahle had tracted out the Brown family from the State College area. They were taught the gospel and joined the church. Eventually Brother Brown became our Bishop and it has been obvious that he and his wife Cindy, have a close relationship with their children and the Lord and they have all added a great deal to our Ward and Stake. You can tell as an outsider that they have spent much quality time with their family and they have been taught with integrity. This last year Brother Brown was made the first counselor in our Stake Presidency. Their son David served a mission to the south, and each family member has been dedicated in the callings they have received. Often as Missionaries we do not get the chance to see the end results of work done by those who served with us. This experience has been very valuable and a great example as to why we were instructed to seek out families whose hearts are ready. For me, it has been like having a mini-PA years after the fact!

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord’s work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
- Elder L. Tom Perry
Ensign, Nov. 2001
