Hello All. I hope you are well. I wanted to give everyone a heads up about someone using the site as a means to get money.

A few days ago, I received a call from a female identifying herself as Karenfarr Mondonahan. She started off the conversation about how we were mission buddies and served together under Pres Gaviola and that she was sad I didn't remember her. After apologizing and feeling bad that I may have forgot a fellow comrade in arms from the PIM, I gave her my email address so we could reconnect easier than trying to talk through the bad phone connection. I got the email from her and everything started to make more sense.

This is the message I received,
" Hello musta spencer? grabe ka nakalimutan mo na ako...okey lang ganyan ka naman eh! hehehe!! joke!!!
im working here in the NEW YORK TELECON OUR MAIN OFFICE IS IN THE NEW YORK MANHATTAN ,pero ako naka based ako ngayon sa naga philippines...yong trabaho ko, no basic salary its just only a commission basis, sa
sales product ako...its too bad but i have to work to support my parents.
spencer tulungan mo ako na maka benta or maka sales...bili kana sakin ng silver videoke magic sing.....its just only a $393 free delivery n
a ito sa inyong bahay...or may cellphone kami mura lang pero with in the philipppines lang delivery nito...bili kana ibigay mo na lang sakin ang cellphone mura lang naman to eh $80 lang para may sales na ako at para may commision na ako..maawa ka spencer.
its a big help to me...kunin mo na lang ako dyan. hehehe!! joke...musta na ang buhay??miss kita grabe!! sobra..ayos work mo sa bangko ka nag trabaho...
alam mo? nag trabaho ako dito ng madaling araw para lang maka benta...i recieve a memo that if i have no sales tanggal ako sa trabaho..."

I looked at her profile, we never were in the mission together. I left before she even got there. Notice how my profile says I work at Bank of America and am not married and how she worked that in to her email.

I just wanted to make everyone aware of our wannabe con artist PIM alumnus who is using the site for mendacity and profit. I am sure I am not the first nor only one she has attempted this with.

Oh yeah,
Hope you are all doing well.

Missing another reunion... :( 15 Mar 2007
That's one more thing that stinks about medical school... I just don't think I could squeeze it in between my neuro and advanced life saving tests. (or into my budget!) I will really miss seeing you all though. Hopefully we keep these going because I will be moving back to Idaho this summer to start doing my clinical rotations and I'd really like to see everyone! Big thanks to Crabb and Hiatt for all their work in getting these together. Let me know if I can help out in any way in the future...
Has anyone seen Boyer lately? My email address for him must be wrong... If you see him, tell him to email me!
Love to all!

betts I have the song on some tape somewhere and it plays for the whole side. I am moving in the next couple of weeks and will find it and put it on a CD. I have been meaning to do that for some time now. I have other pinoy music but most of it was on tapes. I don't know why I did that. There is some michael V stuff I have. Another one bites the dust in pinoy is always a good time.

Annoying song 16 Feb 2007
Does anyone remember the name or spelling of that really annoying song that they used to play over and over and over and over in all the jeepneys and buses? I think it was "Dyang-dyang" or something like that. Or does anyone have an mp3 of that song that they could email me? Just for nostalgia.

re:traveling to the philippines 04 Jan 2007
I agree with what was mentioned on the previous post. But if you plan on touring outside the mission after your sons release, or if you plan on visiting any other islands or areas, I HIGHLY recommend getting the Lonely planet Philippines guidebook. (you can usually find them for about $15-$20. ) I returned to the the Philippines for a few vacations after my mission, and the book was invaluable! It provides a fabulous resource for traveling info, bus routes, jeep routes etc. Hotel information, phone numbers, pricing and reviews plus info on restaurants etc. The most valuable feature however is the ability to look up any town you are visiting, and see what attractions are close by and look at a map of the town or area, even in the smallest of towns, a map is often provided. It is wonderful to read a brief history of the area you are visiting, know where to find mueseums, parks, and recreation areas, and to have plenty of contact and travel information just in case your plans suddenly change. I found the book to be remarkably accurate. When I used the book, I was using the 1997 edition, but the newer versions should be much more current and accurate.
You can find the Lonely Planet Philippines book on Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1741042895/ref=olp_product_details/002-3445556-9807211?ie=UTF8&seller=
(if you click on the image of the book on the left, you can read a few excerpts)
