Flights from Japan to Manila 30 Mar 2006
Here's the deal... In June I'm going to be in Japan for school and I thought, as long as I'm half-way around the world I might as well drop in on the ol' mission.

Do any of you travel savy RMs have any good ideas for getting rediculously low airfare within Asia?

sorry brethren 23 Mar 2006
I would never have known the purpose if you guys have posted that information. Now as I can see it I felt like being a very unwanted person on this site. You know I was just suggeting. I for myself would like to treasure memories just like keeping the past and present together, that suggestion was not meant to create anything in chaos but for the benifit of everybody. It happened to look like it was because most of you misinterpreted it but I'm not judging you again. For that case I'm very sorry. It would be fine if this can't be posted as long as long I have said what I want you brethren to consider. Thanks for your time.

web site 23 Mar 2006
I would have to agree with Boone, Lets leave this site alone. If a new mission would like a website then that is wonderful let them have it. But we all served in the Ilagan mission and this site is a wonderful rememberance. Lets leave it alone. Just my 2 cents as well

The website 18 Mar 2006
This is in response to the news message posted about changing the website to reflect the changes in the mission. I personally think it should be kept the same. I think the website is designed so that people who served in the original Ilagan mission can keep up with each other. If someone wants to head up the Laoag Mission web site then feel free to do so, but i suggest keeping the current Ilagan web site as is. That is my two cents.

Please be sure to email and call all of your friends / old comps from the mission. The mission website is the only place that we will be advertising for this reunion, and not everybody checks this site frequently. Hi everyone! 04 Feb 2006
I've been thinking it sure is great to have updates from everyone through this website. Though I admit I feel a few pangs of "mission sickness" when I read about all you missionaries I served with and really idolized...
Live has been great for me. I made it through my first semester of school and feel like it has already been ages since I moved here to Iowa. We have a huge LDS population at my school which gives us a lot of opportunities to be examples and to share the gospel. I just wish that I remembered to be a better example all of the time.
I can't remember who I've told, but my wife is pregnant with our first kid, due in August, so we are really excited! So a lot of life changes, and I guess it's time for me to finally try to grow up.
I feel bad that I won't be able to make it to any of our reunions this year, but anyone who goes, please give my regards to everyone there! I wish the best for you all!

What's up? 03 Feb 2006
Hey y'all,
Just dropping a note to let everyone know that we're doing fine. Our baby is now almost 7mo old. Ricky and Gabe are doing fine. We're doing good. We're going to try and come to the reunion on the 31st. I already got the day off of work, so we'll see. Other than that I'm still in school.

I got called to be the Secretario Ejecutivo in the Ensenada Park Branch (spanish).

For those that don't know. We go to a spanish speaking branch. We were officially organized into a branch Aug. 2005 by the First Presidency. Prior to that we were just a group. It's been a neat experience to start as a group of a handful of people to a group of several families to being organized into an official branch. I got called to be the Executive Secretary. Man, I never knew how busy those guys are. You can only imagine how busy we are in a growing branch. We have our own dedicated sister missionaries. We feed them as often as we can because we all know how well missionaries eat. :) Baptisms are frequent. Last month I was asked to be the escort for a recent convert (Hno. Pedraza) who went through for his own endowment and then sealing to his family. As I was his escort we had another family go through for their endowments/sealing and I was the proxy for the deceased father. What an amazing experience. I also went through my first session in spanish.

For those that don't know, I'm ESL. Actually, I speak english less often than the other three. (spanish, tagalog, and ilocano). It's interesting when I'm communicating in all four and translating at the same time.

I was asked to be the translator for the Stake President when we had our first branch conference in November. That was a spiritual experience.

I really love going to investigators' homes and being the member present when the missionaries teach. (How the teaching has changed. Preach My Gospel is very cool.) It's always a fun surprise when they realize that this 6'3" 255lbs. gringo-looking guy speaks spanish and then they come to church and that is cool.

I really love being in th spanish branch. It's very similar to the filipino branches. My wife enjoys it as well, even though her spanish is very limited. Our kids are getting extra practice in the language too, mostly because at home we speak to them in either english, tagalog, or ilocano. Now, my oldest son, will answer me in spanish when I ask him what he's doing. He says 'nada'. It makes me laugh.

Well, sorry to ramble and go off onto other tangents. I know that the spanish branch has nothing to do with the Philippines, but I have seen so much happen in our small branch that I have to share it.

I know this is the true church of Christ. And it is a great feeling to know that.

I hope everyone is doing well. Hopefully (kung gusto ng Dios) we'll be at the reunion. We're also planning on going to General Conference for the first time ever. that will be way cool.

Ok then, to all my close friends, miss you guys and take care, and to everyone else I hope you're doing well, too.

What's going on? 30 Jan 2006
Hey Somes, Epperson, Shaw, Olive, and Prawitt,

Hey I was just wandering what you guys have benn doing lately and where you all are?

Actually, Somes just moved to Sacramento and I am going to visit him soon, and when I talked to him he said that Prawitt lives in Reno and that we should go visit him there.

And I saw on here that Epperson said he might be getting married in Florida in April or May.

I went back to BYU for the summer and was emailing Shaw for a while, while he was there but never saw him.

And I havent heard any thing about Olive since I came home.

Ive been living with my siblings in an apartment in downtown Sac and just moved home to finsih my associate degree. Hopefully after I get my degree, I'll be able to save up some money. Then my plan is to go to china for 6 months and teach english, then when I get back, I'll go to BYU Hawaii and get my bachelors in International relations and work for the CIA.

I havent been back to the Philippines yet but its still idea that been brooding in the back of mind.

Thats about it. Maybe if I have time I'll be able to go out to Eppersons wedding.
