Hey, Happy New Year to everybody. Man, I can't believe I've been home for 4 years now--that is just crazy. Now, I don't recognize many of the names on our mission website. It's good to know so many valiant missionaries have gone and returned. Man do I miss the Philippines.
If you know me, please send me a message. I'd love to talk to anyone I crossed paths with in the field.
Love you all!!

Hey, for all of you folks in the Salt Lake City area, (Elder) Ryan Anderson, aka Grease, and I went to a restaurant last week called Boondocks. They had a lunch buffet with Adobo, Lumpia and some Szechuan(which I don't remember eating over there, but oh well). And yes, they DO have UFC Banana catsup!!!
It is awesome food that tastes authentic. The owner is pretty cool. He trashed Grease's and my Tagalog too. I like this guy.
The coolest part about it.... Karaoke!!! Yes, that's right folks, you too can sing along with the cheesiest Tagalog love songs as well as rock out to American songs that had WAY too much airtime on Jeepneys.
It's on the Southeast corner or 500 South and 200 East. Call ahead to see if they're open. They have a funky schedule because the owner is also busy pursuing a PhD.

Hey All! Well here's me, still single and enjoying life in Rexburg, Id. I'll try and make the reunion late, but I don't get there I bet until like 7-8PM, so wait for me, 'kay? It's been forever since heard from everybody, so all my comps say HEY! And tell me how they're doing. I'm starting my first year in the nursing program, and up to my neck in busy, and happy both. I love you all!

First of all, thanks to Grant McChesney for keeping this bad boy updated.
Okay, let me just quickly update my life. I graduated from the University of Utah in August 2002 and then I got a job in Maryland with the government.
Wala pa rin asawa...GRABE!!! But even still, I go on.
I'd just like to say hi to all my old mission friends. I had a good lunch with Jeremy Fullmer, Elder Meade, Ryan Brown, and John Niels Petty the other day. Plus, I was able to hang out with Caesar Gonzales, John Fitch, and Clint Stephenson as well.
Oh, and I saw David Myntti's beautiful daughter as well.
Okay, hope we are all staying on the straight and narrow. Email me at ericbell_pogi@yahoo.com.

Just wanted to keep in touch and let you know what has been going on in our lives.
On May 21, my dear husband had a very bad accident. The accident was so simple yet he was critical for a couple of days. Del was putting garbage that was on the farm, in a dumpster and he had to climb on top of the dumpster in order to put it in. Some of the debris had oil on it. When he went to get down his foot slipped and he fell (about 4-1/2 ft) on his side. He could hardly breath. He had to drive home which is about 3 miles, I wasnt home, he called our daughter, and she came to the house and called the ambulance. By the time he received medical help (oxygen) was about 45 minutes, and by the time they got him to the hospital it was about 1 hr and 15 minutes later. Making a long story short, he ended up having many, many broken ribs (The doctor said he broke about everything there was to break) on his right and left side, a collapsed lung, which resulted in tension pneumothrax. They put a long tube into his right chest cavity to help him breath and repair the punctured lung. They put him in intensive care. During the night his face began to swell with the air that had escaped from his lung. His face looked like a basketball. The doctor was called at 4:00 a.m. to come to the hospital and they took more x-rays. His other lung had also collapsed so they had to but a chest tube in his left side. While they were preparing to do this he stopped breathing for about 5 or 6 minutes until they were able to get him going again. Everyone was scared and praying. He was in the hospital for 6 days. The doctor was amazed how fast he recovered, especially for his age. He is back to being semi-active now, however he is still in pain and cannot lift anything, and sleeping at night is terrible. He sleeps in a recliner and also tries sleeping in a bed that is on a recline. He gets tired easy, and is still subject to pneumonia and blood clots. The doctor said yesterday that it would be about 3 to 6 months before the pain will go away. Our family feels so blessed that he is still with us. Life is fragile. We have been to the temple a couple of times since this happened, our grandson was married in the Bountiful temple last week. When we travel in the car he has to get out every hour to help prevent the blood clots. We had planned a trip to Cardston, Canada to witness Annaluise von Schilling get married. We felt so bad to have to cancel but we might be able to go to her reception in Victoria. We also had to cancel a trip to Scotland and Ireland this month, but were able to reschedule it for August. He has had a good attitude about all this and has just tried to keep going the best he can. He is not one to sit in a chair all day. We feel blessed because this is the first time he has ever been in a hospital. It is just one of those Interruptions of Life.
We pray all is doing well with you and your love ones.
Take care. We love you much. LTC, Del and Carol Garner

WHATS UP EVERYONE? I JUST FOUNDOUT ABOUT THIS PLACE AND IT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF THE YOUNGER GUYS THAT SERVED WITH ME DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS SITE YET, SO I'LL HAVE TO TELL THEM. IT IS A PRETTY COOL SITE. AND I DO HAVE THE E-MAIL ADDRESSES OF PARKER BROWN AND JUSTIN BURNETT ( HE JUST GOT MARRIED, CONGRATS! BUDDY) PEACE!
|
|
Hey All,
I finally got around to registering (Amber Smith told me too about 5 months ago and I just finally did now...yeah, I've been busy).
First, I'm engaged! Yeah! How cool is that?!! Her name is Laura, she lives in Mesa Arizona (one of my long standing theories is the church revolves around Mesa Arizona, its true, whenever there is a group of 5 to 10 members someone is connected to Mesa), wedding in July at the new Snowflake Temple!!
I'm graduating this summer with a degree in economics and am going to law school in the fall.
I just wanted to let everyone know I'm still alive (and I'm looking for the e-mail addresses of Elder Parker Brown, Elder Seth Britt, Elder Pat Reuter, (ang anak ko si) Elder Joseph Ramos, Elder Tonumaipea, and Elder Jesus Dabu, if anyone knows any of their e-mail addresses let me know),
thanks
Aaron Nielson

Dear Philippine RMs,
Would you like to help occasionally at the MTC as a Tagalog or Cebuano
role-playing investigator?
This is a chance to keep up your language skills, meet other Philippine
RMs, and serve.
The only Filipino language session is on Friday evenings from 6:10 PM to
9:30 PM. If you live within commuting distance of Provo, call the TRC at
(801) 378-2024 or Sister and Brother Knudsen at (801) 763-0560 and let
them get in touch with you. If you are ever in Provo on a visit on Friday
evening and would like to help call, or If you don't have time to call,
drop into building 1M and ask for a volunteer badge and directions to the
TRC.
Elder and Sister Knudsen
