Ya Gotta Have Faith, Faith Faith 31 Mar 2006
On the island of Terceira, my companion Elder Tom Loftus and I were tracting...knocking doors as usual...when it started to POUR. Anyone who's been on the island knows that weather can come from nowhere. When it started, Elder Loftus and I happened to be under an awning that kept us dry, but the person at the door already told us they were not interested. Being only 4-5 months into the "field" I felt that shear bullishness was what the Lord wanted me to do...that is, keep knocking even if it was like taking a shower, so I ran across the street and stood in the pouring rain while my companion stood on the porch keeping dry. When I turned around, I saw him and I thought, "I'm not gonna do this on my own." So I called out to him and said, "C'mon." He told me to wait a moment. After that, I ran back under the roof and shortly after the rain stopped. I asked him why he didn't come with me and he responded that he was praying. I learned that day that I needed to think more of the Lord's way and be more humble. What a great example he was for me. Thank you Tommy Boy!
