Comments: I was 39 at the time of our call, 40 when we arrived in Portugal. I am currently 53.I was accompanied to Lisbon by my wife, Diana Bird Holt, and our two daughters Marianne and Martha. Sister Holt died in October, 1995. Her health required us to return early from our mission in Lisbon. My prior service included Counselor in Stake Presidency, Bishop, Counselor in Mission Presidency, High Council, Stake Mission President, etc.
Following the death of Sister Holt, I married Jeri Curtis, and moved to Safford, Arizona. She is the mother of 8 children, three of whom are 23 year old triplet girls. She was married to the late Dr. Edward R. Curtis, who passed away in July, 1992. Marianne is married, and lives in Washington DC. with her husband James Viray; Martha is also married, and she lives in Orem, with her husband Aaron Henderson and two children, Sam and Isabella. WE have 10 grandchildren.
In 1999 President Holt entered politics, and ran for Superior Court Judge in Graham County. He was elected in a vigorous campaign against the republican incumbent of ten years. For the past five years, President Holt has been working as presiding judge for Graham County. He serves on numerous committees. He is currently teaching Gospel Doctrine in his ward, and Missionary Preparation in the Thatcher Institute of Religion.
President Holt returned to Cabo Verde in September 2003, and spent two weeks with the missionaries in zone conferences, doing splits, and visiting members. |
