Comments:
I loved my mission, but there were times in the last few years when my testimony wavered for a variety of reasons.

One of these times was in December, 2012.

But then I got a call from Daniel Miranda, a man who (along with his wife) I baptized in Yauco in 1987.

Elder Hansen and I (if anyone remembers a blond Elder Hansen from the White Mountains in Arizona, I'm trying to reach him! I can't remember his first name!) met Daniel on a P-Day while we were playing basketball on the far east side of Yauco (hard to imagine a 'suburb' of Yauco, but it was a half-hour walk east of town).

Daniel and his wife had moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1989 or 90, and he raised 10 CHILDREN, all of whom are strong in the church. When they were baptized, their only daughter at the time, Atacha, was 6 months old. She now lives in Provo with her husband Randy and their two children. Randy was converted to the gospel when he was dating Atacha, and he ended up serving a mission to Argentina. Now he attends BYU and works at the MTC.

When Daniel Miranda finally tracked me down and called me in December 2012, he shared his testimony and told me "YOUR MISSION WAS NOT IN VAIN."

That has always stuck with me. Danny is TEN TIMES the LDS Christian I will ever be, and yet I had the honor and privilege of sharing the Lord's gospel with him.

This is something I will never forget. It will always be one of the most precious gifts the Lord has blessed me with, and it may very well end up my greatest accomplishment in this life.

Some people become captains of industry, some people discover great things. Me? I shared the gospel with a man, Daniel Miranda, whose life has blessed scores and perhaps hundreds of others.
