College credit 16 Jul 2002
Question for you BYU folks... Has anyone tried getting foreign language credit for Romanian? I think BYU is the only school in Utah that offers a test that can be taken to test for verbal and written literacy. If anyone has taken the test or knows information about it, please let me know, thanks!

anyone with contacts at orphanages-

my sister in arizona wants to adopt a baby girl from overseas. she thinks that romania has a hold on adoptions right now. so if anyone knows anyone that works at, or runs an orphange there, we would like your help to get a better life for one of romania's kids. i know diana johnson(formerly) has contacts in iasi, so if anyone can get her to contact me, that would be great.
thank you all

My health 19 Mar 2002
Dear Friends,

I just want to leave a quick message, and thank "y'all" (remember where I'm from), for all the love and support you've given me, especially lately when I've needed you a bunch. I want to especially thank a couple of my soras, Emily Hart, Jenifer Peterson, and Tara Busenbark (sorry Tara can't remember your new last name), Russ Peterson, Ben Barker, Doug Denton, and President and Sister Orton for your phone calls, cards, and efforts to help feel better. I love you all and am gaining strength every day, and will soon be back on my feet again. I love "y'all" a bunch, I miss you a bunch, and thank Tatul Ceresc for everything you've done for me.

Love,

Ryan Brew

Elder Ryan Brew diagnosed with Leukemia 18 Feb 2002
This message goes out to all of the missionaries that shared their mission experience with Ryan Brew. He was diagnosed with leukemia a little over 2 weeks ago.

His specific type is called acute lymphocytic leukemia. He has already begun chemotherapy treatments, and it is anticipated that he will continue treatments for 2 to 3 years. His family is very concerned and asks that all missionaries will remember him in their prayers and fasting.

Elder Ryan Brew is admitted to the Duke University Medical Center, Rm. # 9110.

Address:
Duke University Medical Center
Attn. Ryan Brew
Durham, NC 27710

Phone:
919.681.9110

His parent's home phone:
910.655.2724

His father Reggie's cell phone:
910.233.4130

Please give him or his family a call to let him know that you are concerned and that your prayers are with him. If the phone rings and rings, try again later. They unplug the phone sometimes because the treatment makes him hypersensitive to sounds, smells, and light. Thank you all for supporting Elder Brew in this huge life trail.

A Dear Friend's Passing 15 Feb 2002
Brother Fred Barth passed away on Feb 10, 2002. For those of you who know him and sister Barth, you know how instrumental they have been in the geneology efforts in Romania as well as what great friends they have been to the missionaries and members.

I attended the viewing today and spoke with sister Barth. There was a very calm peaceful spirit there. She mentioned that she knew that brother Barth had done everything he was supposed to do here and it was time to go home. She also said, "It was an honor to be his wife." What great examples the Barths have been.

hosts for Romanian Journalists 17 Jan 2002
Hi everybody. Mihaela Stan, the Public Affairs guru for the church here in Romania, needs some help from the RM's living near the Olympics. Romanian journalists would like to be hosted by the families of Romanian RM's. Mihaela has put a lot of work into this hoping for some very helpful press. We've already seen a great full page article in Gazeta Sporturilor about the Olympics, Salt Lake City, and (most important to us) the Church. If you think you would like to help, just reply to me and i'll put you in touch with Mihaela.
Thanks! -Matt

I am looking for clear pictures of the hill in Cismigiu Park, Liceul Mecanica Fina and the meetingplace on Stoica. I am also looking for pictures of the first baptism--preferably with just the members, and no missionaries or else ALL of the missionaries there with the members at the time!!
