Pres. Lini To'o 26 Mar 2009
Notes from Ferron Fruean (NZ)

For all that served under Pres To'o

He passed away at 11am this morning at his home today - Thursday 26th March.

It appears his family service will be held on Monday 30th March
The funeral service to be held on Tuesday 31st March.

This is yet to be finalized by the family as they are still awaiting family members to arrive from overseas.

Having visited the family tonight, we were told that President's passing was sudden. He had been in relatively good health previous to his passing. The night before he had had a good meal of kalo and curried mussels. Sis To'o told us that he had eaten 3 pieces of kalo, more than he should have, but he was happy. His son-in-law had told us that he had been out home-teaching before. That the youth had come around the house the previous day to tidy up the yard and mow the lawns for President. Pres To'o had enjoyed their ward conference the Sunday before. Sis To'o told us that they were both preparing and looking forward to teaching their Institute class - they taught Celestial Marriage. She said that when he went, he was in no pain, he was happy and calm. She had said that he wanted to be buried immediately, following his death and if it were solely up to him he would be buried tomorrow. But as is the case with family, it never is really solely up to the individual, so they are waiting for all of the family before they go ahead with his service and burial.

By the sounds of it Pres. To'o went out the way he wanted to. Happy and ready to meet his Lord whom he had served faithfully over the duration of his sojourn here in life. We are fortunate and blessed to be have been a part of this great man's life. To have known him, to have served and worked with him, to have been instructed and loved by him. Better yet it is up to us now to keep Pres To'o's legacy alive and to remember him and show him our love by the things we do in teaching our children and those around us about the Lord and his plan for us. By living the way we are supposed to so when the time comes when the Lord calls us back, we too will be ready. Just like our President.
