Comentários: Sam received his call in September just as he arrived back in school. He is at Iowa Western in Council Bluffs Iowa going to school and playing college soccer. The soccer season just finished and he will end his first term as a sophomore December 10, arrive home in Salt Lake City and report to the MTC 7 days later on December 17th. He is very excited about his call and has had a hard time waiting for it to finally arrive for him to begin. We will post a picture when we get him home for Thanksgiving.
Feb 2009:Sam arrived in Singapore on Feb. 27 and has been assigned to Johor Bahru, serving with Elder Mattson.
June 2009: Sam is still serving in Johor Bahru and saw Elder Mattson off for home at the end of his mission. Sam has received a new companion in Jhor Bahru named Elder Wong, with whom he is presently serving.
July 2009: It was a sad day for Elder Skanchy as he had his first transfer of his mission and left Johor Bahru, a city and people he had come to love. He is now serving in Singapore, with Elder Devanation, who is from Sri Lanka and has about two months left on his mission. Singapore is different than Johor Bahru and he reports that he uses his Malay very little in Singapore. He is in the Toa Payo Ward.
July 2009: After two weeks in Singapore, Elder Skanchy was transferred to Bintulu, East Malaysia, where he is serving with Elder Williams in the Bintulu 2nd Branch. His work area is the sungai plan flats. He loves his mission and loves the Malay and Iban people.
September 2009: Elder Skanchy has received a new companion, Elder Chris Steele, who arrived in the mission on September 1, 2009. He is from Tooele. Sam loves the people of Bintulu and is happy to be teaching in Malay and Iban homes. |
