President & Sister Collins complete their temple assignment 01 Oct 2007
Dear Singapore Missionaries,

We are coming to the completion of another mission; this time from serving in the Portland Oregon Temple. Though we are living here in our home, and are quite near to our Temple, we've spent many hours there and have grown so much spiritually as we have served. It's been almost three years and now that we look back the time seems to have gone by quickly. This mission has been quite different from the one we had with you, the Singapore missionaries. Our time has been closely scheduled for attendance at the Temple and we have done very little traveling. We have found that there are so many "little miracles" that happen in the Temple, every day. It is similar to our Singapore mission, but the miracles are confined to that special place, 'The House of the Lord" where as in our other mission they happened everyday, but all over, where we least expected it. We in many ways have missed our missionaries, young and not so young, but have really grown to love and respect the 'Saints' that volunteer there time to work in the Temple. Those 'Saints' serve in their senior years, with a few younger ones. In many instances they serve though their health is not the best; they are faithful, so faithful. We've gained a wonderful appreciation of all that takes place in the Temple.

If we have not corresponded the way we should have, please be patient and understand that we are not so young ourselves, anymore; I must say that we are good and tired as we return each day or evening after having been in the Temple for six, or seven hours. Always, there are "remarks/talks" to be given and I'll be quite happy to have an end of that! Nick is still great when he speaks and he even gets the Temple Ordinance Workers to chuckle when we have preparation meetings every day. We have often spoken of our Singapore mission, but try not to dwell on that too much!

Memories are good! We love you so much and know that as these years have gone by, you too have been progressing as you have been challenged in your lives. There are some addresses that we do not have; we are so very sorry to miss, those we miss. We send you our love, wherever you are.

(Nick has done much less running these last years, though he still loves it!)
