Sister Missionaries Assaulted in South Africa 21 Jul 2006
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Dale Bills, a spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has released this information:

“Two young women serving as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the South Africa Durban Mission were assaulted by four men last Friday evening in Port Shepstone.

"One of the missionaries was shot and wounded. She remains hospitalized but is expected to make a full recovery. The other missionary was treated and released.

"Our prayers are with these two young sisters and their families. Our missionaries share a message of peace. We pray that these two faithful young women and all who know and love them will be blessed with peace and comfort at this time.

"We understand that police have arrested four suspects in this matter. We are grateful for the quick and caring response of law enforcement and other public safety officials."
