Comments:
New picture - Myself and one of the few LDS Marines from my time as a battalion commander, a couple of years ago. We weren't the only Latter Day Saints in the outfit, but I think we were the only two returned missionaries in the battalion.

Currently mobilized (Marine Corps) in support of the current emergency. Not overseas, and no immediate chance of it - I'm stationed in the Washington DC area, just uphill from the Pentagon in the "Navy Annex." Here until June of 2009, also serving as Scoutmaster and Deacon's Quorum Advisor in the Dale City Ward, Woodbridge Virginia Stake.

Remainder of info stays the same - University of Utah, six years active duty in the Marines (Reserve after that), then the writing and publishing business from '90 to '04, until I was mobilized in June of '04. Married Ann Noorlander in June '92, just passed our fourteenth anniversary - three wonderful kids, Patrick (age 17), Emma (11) and Douglas (9). Still in the Reserve (currently mobilized), have commanded a company, a battery, and an artillery battalion (all Reserve).

I have many opportunities to reflect on my own missionary service as I do my small part to build the desire to serve in the young men in the Deacon's Quorum. Fortunately, I don't have to rely only on my own example as a missionary - I had some tremendous examples around me in Taiwan from whom I continue to draw inspiration.

Always love to hear from any of you.
