Comments:
My husband recently found a website for his mission (England-Leeds), registered on it, & heard from a few companions, all of which made me wonder if us Taiwan missionaries had a website. Where have I been?? I do think of my mission often, of my faithful companions, heaven sent investigators, valiant members, and also of our wonderful President Hyer, and his great leadership. He was a tremendous influence for me. I vividly remember during my last interview with him he said something to the effect of, "Sister Davis, over the past 18 months you have learned well how to serve your Heavenly Father. But I want you to know this is not the end. This is only the beginning of your service in His kingdom." I remember feeling so tired at that interview, and his words making me even more so. Little did I know how many times I would reflect back on those words of wisdom and counsel as I have continued to be "Called to Serve". I've thought many times what a rare opportunity mission service is, focusing only on one thing, little or nothing else to worry about. Real life requires handling so many aspects at once. Sometimes I long to be able to focus on just one thing as in the mission. But that is just not real life, is it? July '05 marked 20 years since the end of my mission. It seems in many ways like such a short time ago. I was married in the Manti temple in June '87 to Tommi Smith. We graduated from BYU with Business Degrees in '90, and moved back to Tennessee with our 18 month old daughter. We were blessed with another daughter shortly thereafter, and continue to this day to be very happy. Opportunities to practice Chinese are rare, but I take advantage of every one I can. I would love to hear from anyone who has time to keep in touch. Hi to all my comps-- Deanna Good, Tsai Jya Shou, Polly Bonkosky, Liu Mei Ji, Cindy Whittaker, & July Ellis. Dzai Jen- Di Jyemei
