SARS fears in California 17 May 2003
This is a followup to the letter I posted from President Nielson, the Taipei Temple president, regarding SARS.

My wife Kyrstne and I take Mandarin classes on Friday nights at the Sacramento Mandarin School in Sacramento, California (a school for the children of Chinese immigrants). Normally the school is bustling with people, but tonight it was largely deserted. Our teacher said she had heard that some of the parents had called to say they were avoiding the school because they were worried about SARS.

At least so far, SARS hasn't been a problem in California, but the fear of SARS seems to be spreading far and wide.
