New Years Message - 2005 03 Jan 2005
Dear Missionaries of the Taiwan Taipei Mission,

There is an old Chinese saying, "a journey of a thousands leagues, begins with a single step." I did a very good job of getting our Christmas card ready to print: We we took them to the Temple for our work week; they all got addressed and sent; and I planned to send out this email at the same time. However, the Christmas email did not happen. A New Year's email will be more memorable anyways since it may be the only one you get!

We have received many cards and emails from you. It is good to hear of your many activities and travels. Knowing you are doing your best to live lives of worth and self-worth is most encouraging. Like many of you, Sister Harris and I have just finished reading the Book of Mormon for our Sunday School class. Each time as I read the last few books I wonder to myself, "Would I have been a part of that small, faithful group that surrounded Mormon and Moroni?" Then I read Mormon's words, "And now, my beloved son,... let us labor diligently; for if we should cease to labor, we should be brought under condemnation; for we have a labor to perform whilst in his tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God." (Moroni 9:6) At this point I knew the answer to my question; I must continue, as we all must do, on my journey of a thousand leagues.

May you have the blessings of a bright, new year.

President and Sister Harris

P.S. Please continue to write to us through the Taiwan website or our home address: 1707 Loma Drive, Camarillo, CA 93010 USA.

P.P.S. We plan to have a fifth year reunion Friday, September 30, 2005. Details will follow in the Deseret News and on the Taiwan website.
