Christmas Message - 2006 03 Jan 2007
Dear Taiwan Missionaries,

With each passing year our experiences in Taiwan with you, the members, and the peoples of the country become more and more dear to us. We do love the continued flow of updates of your lives. We send our love and prayers to you and your loved ones.

Love President and Sister Harris

OUR CHRISTMAS CARD LETTER

In the third chapter of Ecclesiastes we are told of the different times and seasons in ones life. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born; and a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; and a time to dance.” The world has had much of building up and tearing down, times of weeping and times of goodness.

We too have had times to tear down and to build up as we continue our refurbishing of our historical home in Fillmore Utah. As we opened the home in March we were visited with a beautiful dusting of snow. Our card this year reflects that lovely day. We traveled back and forth from our home in Camarillo to Fillmore five times this year, for a total of two and a half months of focused labor. The complete renewal of the basement gives us a third bedroom and a sunny sitting room on the south side with the large old fireplace. As we visit our families all over the west we are put to work on some project and then we are rewarded by great visiting and feasting. We also have had times of serving as we continue our service at the Los Angles Temple.

We have traveled far and wide. We spent two weeks in rural England looking at beautiful countryside and visiting some of the towns and churchyards where long dead ancestors are buried. This was truly interesting to look at tombstones of persons you had only known in genealogy books. This visit was with LindaGay’s sister and her husband. It was fun to take pictures of the sisters next to the gravesites. LindaGay and Michael then went on to Israel to tour with a group of people we work with in the Los Angeles Temple. This was very rewarding to see places you have read about but have never seen before, and yes there are green spots in Israel, you just need to look for them. We felt very fortunate indeed to have taken this trip at the time we did. The Israeli Lebanon fighting broke out about two weeks after we were there. This October we had the opportunity to return to China with Irene and Wally Tolman, they had taken us to so many Spanish-speaking places and translated for us, it was our turn to reciprocate. Yes we did get a chance to speak Mandarin because we did not have a tour guide between the cities and we could communicate with the bus drivers. That is a story that we won’t go into. We had a great time and were impressed with the growth in China in just six years since our last visit. We have enjoyed visiting our families, friends, neighbors and peoples in three very different countries this year.

We have traveled to enjoy the company of our families including a new grandson Elijah born on the 21st of October to our son Jonathan and Jennifer Harris. And that makes three grandchildren Jonah, Margo and Eli.

Ecclesiastes continues “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart,” We hope for your best at this Christmas time 2006.

MICHAEL AND LINDAGAY HARRIS
