Comments:
Well this has been quite a year for this Sheard family. We got things rolling with Sulu’s surgery in February. All will be glad to know that she is doing fine, and no more surgeries will be needed. May came and life took off. Brandon graduated from Colorado State University and was commissioned an Ordnance Officer in the United States Army. We received our orders and found out that we would be spending the next three years at Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. Sulu took her first steps just week before Brandon had to leave. We started June by driving Brandon to Georgia for his first dose of training and then Sulu and I flew to Utah for two Family reunions. We bounced between families for the rest of the month then flew back to Georgia to meet Brandon and drive with him to Maryland where he would finish his training as an Ordnance officer. On the way we detoured to Florida to visit my grandma Joan, thus driving Sulu coast to coast in less than 6 months. We spent August together as a family, living in a hotel on Aberdeen Proving Ground. In September My folks came to visit and the drive me home visiting friends and family on the way. I eventually made it back to my sister Letha’s house where Sulu and I settled in and prepared for the baby to come. We flew Brandon home on October 27 and my sister Dayna brought him straight to the hospital, because I was induced that day while he was in the air. Torrie Lynn Sheard was born October 28 at 11:30 am weighing 7 lbs 10 ounces, and was 20 ¼ inches long. We arrived in Alaska on November 30, 3:00 am, after an eight hour delay in Seattle, and began the process of making Fairbanks our new home.

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
- Elder L. Tom Perry
Ensign, Nov. 2001
