Hi all, How do I pass on a teaching referral in Khan Kaen?
I would especially like to get sister missionaries involved. Does anyone know if there are sister missionaries presently in Khan Kaen?
The opportunity is with a woman (medical doctor) and her daughter.
Please contact me at scanova@comcast.net if you can help.
Best, Steve Canova

Hi everyone,
I was contacted by Sister Sujitra whom many of you I'm sure remember. She has a friend who recently joined the church in part through the efforts of two senior missionaries who converted his parents in Roi Et aroun d 1991 or so. He would like to obtain the names of those senior missionaries who converted his parents and contact them to thank them. Anyone who can supply this information, please contact me directly at : Somsak1@aol.com. Your help will be greatly appreciated. The following is copied for your reference.

He told me that his mother was given a Book of Mormon in February of 1991 while he was an embryo.
He joined the church 3 years ago. He wants to know the names of the senior missionaries who served in Roi-et duritng that time. He would like to thank them for the missionary work.>>
Thanks again

I want to thank everyone who has donated money to help Sister Srilaksana Suntarahut (Gottsche). Larry R. White has advised me that he has received donations that exceed our original goal of $3000.00 (USD). I know Sri's heart has been touched by the generosity of former Thailand missionaries and their families.
If you would still like to contribute something you can do so by sending your contribution to

She still has needs for quality medical care and medication.
Sister Sri told me yesterday that she has spent her first night in the new bedroom with a new air conditioner. The adjoining bathroom is very nice. If you would like to see a couple of photographs you can send an e-mail request to me.
Again thanks for your support of Sister Srilaksana, who many of us realize was the mother of the Church in Thailand as well as the one foreordained to translate latter-day scriptures into the Thai language.

I'm trying to get in touch with Mani Saengsuwan. He and his wife are serving in Thailand currently. He was my first companion. If anyone has an address or email address I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Sister Srilaksana Suntarahut (Gottsche) will turn 85 years old on July 4, 2009. In recent months her arthritis problems have increased to the point that it is difficult for her to walk. Her bedroom was located upstairs at her home. She can no longer go up the stairs to her bedroom. A new bedroom is almost complete on the main floor along with a new bathroom to meet her needs. She is in need of about 100,000 Baht ($3000.00 USD) to pay for the remodeling and the addition of a room air conditioner for her bedroom.
After discussing her situation Larry White (former missionary and mission president in Thailand) and I are requesting that former Thai missionaries who would like to help Sri make a contribution (no amount too small) to meet these current needs. Should additional money be donated we will give that money to Sri to help meet future medical and prescription drug needs. If you would like to participate please send a check or money order to

For simplicity please make your check to Larry R. White.
Persons located in Thailand should make contributions to Duane Hurst who works at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok or directly to Sister Sri.
Sri was the principal translator of the Thai Book of Mormon, Doctrine and
Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. She was baptized on July 4, 1968 just weeks
after the first missionaries arrived in Thailand.

I was fortunate enough to have known this wonderful man when I was a new member in the earliest days of the reestablishment of the church in Thailand, as a missionary re-learning the language in the MTC, and finally as a return missionary student in his Thai classes at BYU. He was a humble man with a tremendous love for his country, his family, and his God. He held us to the highest of standards and was a great influence and role model to hundreds of missionaries and to the growth of the church in Thailand over the last 40+ years. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends. I count my experiences with Brother Monkol Tungmala as one of the highlights of my life.
