I spoke with President Wisit Khanakham on the telephone. He has informed me that the date for the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Missionary work in Thailand has been set. The date will be Saturday October 21st 2006. A committee has been formed to plan the details of the event which includes the Bangkok Stake, Thailand Mission, and the Districts from up country. He added that while planning is ongoing there may be certain events held during the week before October 21st.

Plans are going forward for a celebration of 40 years of Missionary work in Thailand. The event will be held in October 2006. The Bangkok Stake is holding a rehersal of sorts for this event on November 19, 2005.
Elder Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated Thailand for the preaching of the gospel on November 2, 1966.

Well... I have been back from my mission in California for about two months already but I haven't got a job yet and am looking for one. So if anyone has an open job position I would appreciate it if you let me know. I am planning on applying for BYUH though. Thanks a lot.

Since there is still no confirmed transfer of the bird flu from person to person; so long as they don't handle any poultry directly there should be no problem, in Thailand or anywhere else.
Things will get more serious if and when we start to see transfer of the flu from person to person. Let's pray we never see that develop.

Has anyone heard anything about what will happen to the missionaries if the bird flu cannot be contained within the provinces where it is currently in Thailand?

After a few emails and some consultation with former mission presidents there will not be a pciture of an Elder on a Buddha in the book. Rather I am looking for a pciture of the Elders and President Smith at Sukhothai.
Thanks to those who raised concerns about re-publishing such a picture.
