Message from President McQueen 21 Dec 2005
Dear Missionaries,

As the Christmas Season approaches, We can't help but think about the three Christmas celebrations we had in Ukraine. The party at our apartment where we learned that "Top Gun" was really Cymi, the celebration at the Kievsky Chapel with all the members, and Christmas in the Crimea where we spent four hours searching the scriptures and testifying of Christ. We would ask each of you to contact your member and investigator friends by letter or email and just let them know you are thinking of them now or during the Orthodox Christmas season or both. We are certainly thinking of the scores of wonderful men and women who have served in the Ukraine Donetsk Mission. We thank those first pioneers who set the standard that we have all tried to follow. We can honestly say there is something special about the Donbass region. A special spirit is in that area. We ask you to all keep praying for a stake and that the Temple will be built in Kiev. We feel strongly about the necessity of a Temple in the Europe East Area and we need to pray that the "road blocks" be lifted and that hearts be softened. Please remember that we love you and think about you often. We pray that you will have a wonderful Christmas season and that the New Year will see
your lives filled with blessings. Stay close to the church - It was true yesterday, it is truer today, and it will be even truer tomorrow because we have a prophet who receives revelation. God bless His missionaries who have served and are serving in the Ukraine Donetsk Mission. Love, McQueens

International Volunteers Ukraine-Spring 2006 04 Nov 2005
Dear Alumni,
Come to the beautiful city of Kiev to study, volunteer, and become directly involved in Ukraine's contemporary issues. The program is divided between two research project options. The first involves analyzing the effect of the March 2006 Parliamentary election on the "Orange Revolution." The second provides an opportunity to study religious freedom and tolerance in Ukraine.

For more information, please contact Oksana Pozharska, program facilitator, at ksuhagr@yahoo.com, see flyer http://kennedy.byu.edu/isp/volunteerukraine.php, or apply online at http://kennedy. byu.edu/isp/online/app.

TB Tests 28 Apr 2005
Dear Missionaries,

I just received a call from a very worried mother of one of our missionaries who is having trouble with TB. He did not, I repeat, did not get a TB test until two years after returning home. He is now having to struggle with some serious problems. To all the old missionaries you should have been checked when you got home, if not, do it now. Please!! To the new missionaries who have just returned home, go get a TB test. This is a very serious issue. If you come up positive on the TB test there are some very good antibiotics that you can take to get rid of the disease. Be advised however that you must stay on the antibiotics for as long as the doctor tells you to and this can be up to nine months. Be smart and take care of your health. Love McQueens Any questions email me at davidmmcqueen@comcast.net or call 801-397-5525

Reunion 17 Feb 2005
President Manzhos is coming to Utah in April. Attached is his email to me. I'm wondering if we should do as we did last time and have a combined reunion at the Clyde Building Lounge. We already have this place reserved for our reunion. Let me know what people think. We could have President Manzhos speak to all of us and then break into smaller groups like we did last time. Your thoughts? From: "Alexander Manzhos" <ManzhosAN@ldschurch.org> [ Save Address ]

We will live in Provo on 4-9 April. On this time we will catch the time for meeting with our daughter (she will very busy in BYU on this time). We will depart to Ukraine on 10 Apr. During we are in Provo we are going to travel around neighborhoods.
The new Ukranian government is OK. But we don't know their point of view regarding the religious problems yet. Will wait...
Sincerely,
Alexander.

Dear Elder Manzhos,

We are getting ready to reserve the room for the April Conference reunion. We were wondering if you were going to be able to come to Utah in April. I'm sure we will start getting questions very soon now as to whether or not President Manzhoz will be coming in April. Please let me know your plans. Do you think the new government will be good for the church? Love McQueens PS say Hi to Oleg

Christmas 17 Dec 2004
Dear Missionaries,

Another year has passed and we have only had two zone conferences (reunions). We miss the strength that comes from being together. There was such energy in our zone conferences. It was a spiritual and emotional high and we simply miss it. When we drive home from a reunion, we talk non-stop about all of you. You are such quality people.

Please remember Ukraine in your prayers. We are not sure what is going to happen this election (Dec 26) but let’s pray for one simple thing – “Lord, thy will be done.” We pray every day that democracy will take hold in Ukraine. There is no doubt in our minds that democracy will further the building of the Kingdom. Pray that the Lord will strengthen the Ukrainian people and that He will assist them in bringing the right party to power in Ukraine. We are so proud of the people in this country for behaving so peaceful during this very trying time in their history.

When it gets cold, we think of Ukraine. When it snows, we think of Ukraine. When we slip on ice, we think of Ukraine. When we have a warm cup of hot chocolate, we think of the McDonalds near Pobeda. When we think of Christmas, we think of you. We loved how you cared for your branches, we loved how you treated your investigators, and we loved how you served your companions.

Thanksgiving and Christmas bring back fond memories of turkey dinners in Poltava (dinner at the University with the Callisters) or Kharkov (dinner at the National Hotel), or Donetsk (1999 dinner at 0100 after waiting all day and evening for the train to arrive – cold, snowy and fun) - Christmas in Donetsk in 1999 where the legend of Sumy was born - Christmas in the Crimea where testimonies were borne.

We hope your Christmas will be about Christ and how you helped bring His message to Ukraine. May God bless you for your service.

Love, McQueens

Kiev Temple 10 Nov 2004
I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the website, but the ldschurchtemples.com has posted a picture of the temple site for Kiev. When I was in Kiev during the summer of 2003, members were very confident that a site had been purchased and they took some of the students from our group out to see it. Unfortunately, I couldn't go, so I don't know if this is the same place or not.

Get together for all Merrill-ites 17 May 2004
For all of you "Old Cronies" that served in the beginning, we are having a little get together next month. We are hoping to have an larger reunion in October to give everyone a little more time to schedule your vacation time, but it's been way to long since we all got together and bored our wives with our mission stories.

There will not be dinner, but if you want to bring a salad or desert I won't complain.

The reunion will be on Sat. June 12th in Salt Lake City. The address is 160 S University, Salt Lake. It is across from Kinsbury Hall
and Gardner Hall.

We will be sending out a broadcast email to all of the missionaries that we have addresses for, but if you know of anyone that is not on the list please let them know.

If you have any information regarding the Mission and members please bring it. I will be contacting the Mission office and asking for any updates that they can give as well.

Hope to see you there.

Visit to Kharkov 12 Apr 2004
I am going back to Kharkov to visit in June and all of the addresses of church members have been left in Utah. Can any recently returned missionary volunteer to help with some names and addresses of people in Kholodnaya Gora, Alekseevka and Novye Doma? Does anyone know of someone in Kharkov who checks their email regularly that I could contact?

Thanks for any help,

Donetsk district 04 Mar 2004
Hey have you heard that Donetskiy and Makeevskiy districts were compiled into one + now there are only 3 branches in Donetsk - Petrovskiy(Mirniy+Petrovskiy), Centralny(Kievskiy+Centralniy) and Obiedinenniy(Zhvetochniy+Obiedinenniy)? Then this spring a stake will be announced in Kiev as they have 2800 members for that. Donetsk (1560 members) is on the 5th place in after Moscow, Samara and St.Petersburg. So we try to get about 360 converts this year to become a stake. Oh, the new district president is Pr. Podvodov (Petrovskiy, ex-Mirniy area).

meeting times in Dnepr 23 Jan 2004
I got this information from a member from Dnepr who is living in Kiev right now.

Here is the information you wanted. Church starts at 11am. The only branch with sister missionaries is Pobeda. Their phone number is 68-14-44. I will get you the address soon. Tsentralny branch is probably the easiest to find. It's on prospekt Karla Marksa 49. The entrance is around the back (there is a sign next to the wooden door) and we rent the third floor. There is a missionary couple serving there. Their phone number is 778-16-43. Hope this helps.

Meeting In Dnepr 21 Jan 2004
I believe that the address you have is correct, if someone else knows for sure then lets here it. The place that they meet is not an actual LDS building but is on the second floor of the building, you go around back and there will be a sign, I could be wrong because I never sevred in Dnepr, however I was there a couple of times, and it has been a year, so if you get better advice then take that... Good luck.
