Van Lorin MacCabe,73, was born in Oakland, California to Wilbert Lorin MacCabe and Naomi Shepard Manwaring MacCabe. He married Joyce Katchner and they have five children, 27 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They are members of the Sandy Granite 8th Ward. At the time of his call as Mission President, he was a Counselor in the Washington D.C. Mission.

He is former President of the Salt Lake City South mission, counselor in a stake presidency, bishop, Branch President, England MTC president, Associate Director Church Cultural Center, Amman, Jordan, Mission President's Counselor, Illinois Nauvoo Mission, and high priests group leader. President MacCabe is a retired United States Navy Captain who
also worked in the Missionary Department for 8 years.

Sister MacCabe was born in Douglas, Ariz, to Wayne Elisha and Leah Haymore Kartchner. She was a school teacher and accompanied her husband as mission president and MTC president and served on the Sunday School General Board, Stake Relief Society President, Young Women Stake and Ward President, Ward Primary President and counselor and teacher in ward Relief Society.

Update 8 Feb 2007: They finished their New Zealand Mission 1 1/2 years ago. They are now serving a Military Mission in San Diego California and have been there around 6 months (?).
