New Alumni Website 15 May 2007
Hello,

Please read the following carefully.

The Virginia Richmond Mission now has a new alumni site!

The new site contains many new features! Seperate directories for Alumni, Friends & Members, and Currently Serving Missionaries, as well as, news, pictures, and much more.

As the need for security over the internet increases, your new alumni site implements many new features that protect registered users from SPAM and the harvesting of your personal information. (EMail addresses are always hidden) Within your personal profile, you also now have personal security and site notification options which enable you to customize who has access to your information, and what site notifications (email alerts) you wish to receive.

The new site is still located at (PURL remains unchanged):

http://virginia.richmond.mission.net or,

http://www.mission.net/virginia/richmond

Webmaster Sean Trewartha continues to maintain the old alumni site and is in the process of customizing the layout and design of the new site. When you get to the old site at the above url's simply click on the link to take you to the new site.

Most of the previous information from the old site has now been migrated to the new site, but it is not all in the right format and will need to be corrected and updated once you login. The content management system has assigned each user a new username and password, which you may change as often as you like once you have logged in to your account. Follow these instructions carefully to automatically retrieve your login info:

To access your personal profile, follow these instructions:

1. Search for yourself in the appropriate database (alumni, friend, current).

2. Click on your name in the resulting list.

3. Click on the "Edit Profile" link.

4. In the resulting login screen, click on the "Request Password" link.

The username and a new temporary password will be sent to the email address listed in the profile. If you no longer have access to that email account, please contact me with your new email address.

Remember that usernames and temporary passwords are upper and lower case sensitive, so be careful when you type it in or copy and paste.

After you receive the email with your new login information, login to the site and update your profile with your current information. Be sure to fill in all the missing information, such as companions served with, mission presidents served under and areas served in. Also please take the time to correct the personal information listed in your profile and make any other necessary updates. Plus tell us about what's new by filling in the Comments section of your profile. We do not sell or distribute e-mail or other personal information. You'll probably want to change the bizarre username and password the system generates to something you can more easily remember. Passwords must contain at least six characters, one of which must be a number.

Your help in supplying missing mission president information would be greatly appreciated. So please have a look around the new website, and contact Sean Trewartha with any questions, suggestions or concerns you may have.

Warmest Regards,

Sean Trewartha
