Comments:
Called to Brazil and sent to Washington DC mission in March 1975. A month after working in DC Ward and Chevy Chase, President Nielsen was called to SLC to meet with President Kimball and Mission Committee. He flew his Leer Jet back to Bethesda where I was summoned and asked to open the work with the Jews in Pikesville & Randallstown (Catonsville Ward) with Elder Samuel Frustaci also of Jewish Descent. I met with then Regional Rep Elder Richard Scott and received material from Elder LeGrande Richards to create two lessons at the time to introduce the Church to those from Judah. (The Stick of Joseph - Centered around EZ 37:15-21 and the Patriarchal blessings of Israel and Joseph Gen 49:1-26). And Jesus the Messiah focusing on the many messianic prophesies of the Old Testament. We placed many Books of Mormon in Pikesville and later in Silver Spring Maryland. We met with Rabbi's and had wonderful experiences in sharing the gospel even wearing yarmulke and oft would introduce ourselves as the Jewish Elders representing the Mormon faith, as our Jewish friends would find this an acceptable introduction and non offensive. One baptism at that time among Jews, and now throughout my life there have been many more from the tribes of Judah and priestly order of Levi.

Ironically I used these lessons to baptize a family in Santos Brazil who were Jews from Hungary and also watched a 65 year old Jewish Man who had just come out of shule and sit by me on a bus for 2 hours declare at the end of our discussion with tears in his eyes state "Now I know that Jesus is the Messiah" I too know this!

Washington DC Mission was meant to be for me and I truly loved my journey through this mission!
