Hey... 19 May 2004
Wow, I think I'm getting old now. Ten years ago, let's see I think I was...yes I West Virginia. Crazy. Anyway Kevin, your a stud...I can't believe tha a) you have a girlfriend and b) she is going to West Virginia. Good luck with that. Yeah, Yreka was a bust. Spent a day looking for the Hamblins and never found them. Even went tracting, so to speak. I was heading down from Portland and wanted to check in with them. Hope all is well with everyone.

A bunch of photos posted 13 May 2004
A few years back I was working on an online mission scrapbook which I never put up. So I posted a bunch of pictures including all of my WVCM comps. Yikes! I got shuffled around quite a bit, so there are a lot. Anyways, this might be fun for some of you who served in the WVCM around that time. I also hope it'll inspire more activiity on this website. Thanks!
Feel free to drop me a line!

Reunions 28 Apr 2004
I think there should be a summer time reunion for all the alumni from every president. Summer would be so much easier for people from outside of Utah to plan around. April & October is kind of hard to do when you have kids or whatever. Just a thought!

Reunion 13 Apr 2004
I'm not sure about going to a reunion. It would depend on when, where, and who all will be there. Not much of an answer, huh?

Anyway, a big Whassup to Sister Lincoln....

Hamblin Reunion 07 Apr 2004
I would really like to get missonaries who served with President and Sister Hamblin together for a reunion. I am not sure if the Hamblins could come - but we could take a big group picture and send it to them.

Feed-back - let me know

Fairmont Baptism Part 2 12 Nov 2003
This is an email I received today from Brother David Kennedy regarding a baptism in the Fairmont WV Ward:

"Dear Elder: Thank you so much for reaquainting me with the mission field...What wonderful servants you all were to Fairmont, West Virginia...I hope you can all vacation here eventually and see the grandeur of these mountains...I also want to say that your missions have an eternal perspective...one that we do not realize as mortals fully...part of a plan that might take generations to fullfil ...

I am happy to say that I have met so many of you in the 32 years that I have been a member of the Lords church.

Service here is difficult at best...I remember those 2 sisters walking accross town to the black neighborhood...scriptures in hand...trudging up the hills to make a contact...Sister Ratliff, and Sister Allison ( Sister Ratliff would silently aim her thumb at Sister Allison and make her cry...a silent argument?...seems funny...but who were they...those two sisters who brought the gospel to Sharon Dobbs (Belton). Sharon was in a "bad marriage" at the time...but those sisters
taught her the gospel and pooled their money to buy her a set of scriptures...a week after her baptism she returned the scriptures and had her name removed from the records of the church...family pressure caved her in...I remember the last conversation that we had...I told her that in spite of all that had happened that the gospel was still true...and could she deny that testimony...coming from God...could she deny it?

In her baptismal talk Sunday, she spoke of sampling the other churches for the past 10 years...of taking a nibble here or there but never getting the main course...two new sisters found her and retaught her...and we will keep her close and safe...she is too precious...She has family home evening with the Lindsays...and sister Lindsay, who is 4 years old was patting her on the shoulder, to comfort her during the service Sunday as Sharon cryed...

Many have had a part in this...the Elders and Sisters who just are seen as they track...those who are fortunate to teach and leave a lasting impression of goodness...the members who yearn to keep them in the fold once they get there..and the dead, who wait for the gates to be opened that they may "stand for the exaltation that they have won"

We will do our part to nourish our sister...as Relief Society Pres. Sally Hunter said," We are your family and we are here to take care of you"..

Thank you, Elder for this moment in time...until we meet again..TGIT (the gospel is true)

David Kennedy
