Your loyal Webmaster in Roanoke Virginia 1993
I have not updated anything in three years, sorry about that. I'll try to be more proactive.
I have not been doing much with the site in the last year. Life has kept me busy. Today I updated the names of the Stakes in the mission--changing the name of the northern Stake from Fairmont to Clarksburg. Also removed some references to the Huntington West Virginia Stake--which at this time is not in the mission. This Stake periodically moves between missions. I don't understand it as it is about an hour from Charleston, yet it gets moved around a lot.
I haven't been doing a whole lot on the site, just approving profiles. If you have any suggestions, please let me know, just click on my name above.
I have just been working in the back ground approving postings, nothing new. Working a lot, traveling some, not a lot of free time.
Added the banner on the welcome page.
Moved page from wvcm.us to mission.net address.
Added the Virginia Tech Ribbon to Welcome Page. I served in Pearisburg, just north of Blacksburg in 1993. We went down to VT for Institute quite a bit. Even though I haven't been back there since my mission, I still somewhat feel victimized by the incident on campus. My thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and others who are connected to this tragedy.
Well I haven't made many updates in a while, just been approving profiles mostly. Hope to add some new content and update the Mission's Stakes in the next few months. I have heard that the Fairmont Stake is now the Clarksburg Stake. If someone can confirm this for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if someone has a current map of the Mission....could you scan it and email it to me? Thanks!
I just noticed that the visitor counter somehow got reset....sadness for me....I was tracking it! I know it got up to aout 17,000 visitors, but now it only says 6,000. Oh well. Hope all have a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
OVER 11,000 VISITORS! WOO HOO! Today I deleted a lot of duplicate profiles...I thought I was keeping up on that, but I guess not. Deleted about 40 duplicates.
Been offline for a week and today I received a ton of emails that I hadn't received before dating back a month! I think I answered them all! If all the people who emailed me wanting their log in information come back, we should be have a huge explosion of updates soon!
Updated the Random Notes page, the News of WV page, the Mission Info page and the Mission History page.
Updated a few things on the site. Nothing spectacular. Working on the 'News Of WV" page. Changed my picture on this page. Like I said, nothing spectacular.
Drum roll please.........we have hit 10k visitors! Wooooo hoooooo!
Hit 9,600 visitors! Woo hoo! Traffic is picking up each month. Please let us know if there is something you would like to see on the site......still working on somethings for the site, but I just haven't had the time to finish it all! The bank takes a lot of my time lately! But I love my new job! :)
Hit 8,000 visitors! :)
Sorry I haven't posted anything new in a while. I started a new job as an AVP/Manager with Westamerica Bank (community bank here in California). I have been very busy training and such. I have to travel weekly up to Fairfield CA (bay area) and it's been kind of a drag--my energy is gone once I get home.
First of all, Happy New Year! Woo hoo! Second, there are some major password issues on the site. If the system rejects your password, click on the link for password forgotten or password reset. When mission.net took the site down, something happened where all the passwords were changed. Sorry folks!
Web site has been down for a few days-(actually more like a week)-don't know why, something with mission.net--they never responded to emails. Anyhow, glad its back up....... :)
Well nothing new on the site, but we did hit 7,000 visitors yesterday! Woo hoo!
Nothing new, just approving profiles. Working on a new color scheme for the site in blue & gold. Hopefully it will be ready in a week or two!
Added some new content to the site--News of WV, has links to articles from the web regarding areas in the mission, or people in the mission. The site is still growing, more and more people register every week, which makes me happy, and makes me realize my time is not wasted here working on the site. Thank you guys for all your support! :)
We hit 6,000 visitors! Woo Hoo!
I was just reading The Deseret Morning News online and read a story about BYU yanking an ad for a t-shirt. I think there might be some thin skinned individuals who have created a mountain out of a mole hill on this one folks! I added a poll to see what all of us WVCM'ers think!
Just got back from vacation at Lake Tahoe! First time I had been there! Way nice! I just approved a slew of things on the site. We are closing in on 6,000 visitors! Woo Hoo! Hope everyone who can attend their Mission Reunion goes! You will have a blast!
Seems so strange to me that Virginia Tech is winning in the Poll for Best College/University in the Mission. I thought it would be West Virginia University. Hmmmmm....
Just noticed we have a lot of people who have signed up that enter the MTC in October. That's great! We haven't had that many sign up at once who enter at the same time! Hope this site helped ease some of their fears!
I have been pretty much a lurker on the site for the past month. Been working alot, and got a new puppy! Ugh! I am not a puppy person! So not a whole lot has been done with the site except approvals of profiles.
Not much has changed on the site, haven't had time in a couple weeks to do much to it. Still trying to make the new banner work--if anyone could be of help please let me know!
Correcting punctuation on the site in people's profiles and such. Major pet peeve to me! But don't worry, I don't hold it against anyone, plus it gives me something to do! :)
Added some new links today.....
Been on vacation in Montana and Utah--just approved some postings. Wish our gas in California was as cheap as in Utah!
I am working on getting some scenic pictures gathered of the Mission. If anyone has some they would like to share--please let me know!
Oh my goodness--Random Notes finally showed up on the site! I posted that a week ago! Geesh!
Added a new page called "Random Notes". I saw this story in the Charleston Sunday Gazette Mail today and had to put it on the site. It has some humorous quotes from people, then some sad ones about the state in general, and then poetry and songs. I thought it would fit right in with some of the other stuff we have up on the site. I am still trying to make the mission webpage banner work, but haven't had any sucess with it. Hmmm, maybe another time!
Took down the groovy new webpage banner until I can figure out how to make it work right! Sadness :(
Geez, I messed up the Mission Info page with the new banner. Hang in there folks! I will get it all figured out! :(
Added the outline of WV on the background of the site. Also added some new graphics to the Mission Info page! New Mission name banner too!! Woo Hoo! Ugh! the title on the page is all messed up! Ugh!!!!! :(
Added some more pictures to the site, nothing big, more like icon pictures for each section of the site--nothing major! My favorite one is on the Friends/Members page, reminds me of a lady I taught in Olive Hill KY!
Changed some pictures on a few of the pages, and added some on others (like one of me above).
Have had quite a few newcomers lately! Thanks people for talking the site up to your friends! Much appreciated! Am working on some new graphics for the site..hopefully I will be able to put them up in a week or so.
Wow! Tons of pictures posted! Thanks!
Hmmm, traffic has slowed down on the site...thinking....thinking....thinking.....
Polls are back, have no idea what happened. Also have instituted an approval process for all postings due to some people posting vulgar things! :(
Noticed the polls section is not working properly and some links are not working. Some images are not working either. Hmmm, what a mess! :(
