News Item: Stand and Sing for Zambia Proud and Free

Nowadays there are a lot of Zambians at both BYU and LDSBC, actually there only 3 Zambian girls at LDSBC (two Sifaya girls and one Shea). BYU on the other hand is teeming with young people from Lusaka (you can also find a handful of Zimbabweans scattered across the campus).
So who are these Zambians? Well, its the trailblazers like the Mushala's, the Yuyi's, the Musanga's, the Chishala's, the Sinyangwe's, the Muzumara's, the Mwakamui's, the Daka's, and the many that are on their way to both these schools. Since most of them are married and starting families, these numbers are steadily increasing. In the mix are two sister missionaries (both from Libala Branch) serving on Temple Square (and doubtless there are dozens from Zambia serving across the globe). For your information, you will find the likes of the Nkowane’s, Mukonda’s, and Kapema’s, to name only a few, pursuing similar endeavors in South Africa. Did I mention that 97% of them have served time--no not jail time, although some of them have had the displeasure of tasting this—but served as ambassadors to the Lord Jesus Christ.
These young people will one day lift Zambia and be great examples to their countrymen and women and will play a key role in the spreading of the gospel in that wonderful part of the world. They are being prepared for that day when they shall inspire change and prosperity in their own lands and cause people to stand proud and free knowing the abundant blessings that are theirs to reap from observing gospel truths. All of you that have had the singular privilege of serving in the Zimbabwe Harare Mission are part and parcel to these blessings that shall sweep across the land.
We all ask for your hopes and prayers as we engage in this marvelous work and wonder.
