I found a terrific place in Layton, Utah, run by a Uraguayan woman who moved up here about three years ago that has TONS of imported goods from Argentina. Alfajores, mate, dulce de leche, mantecol, bombillas, etc. Even those chocolate chip cookies called "Pepitos"!!! Remember those?!? It was the most amazing experience to walk down the aisle that is *filled* with many different brands of mate. The smell brought back memories so strong that I felt like I was in a kiosko in Argentina!!! Just thought I'd let you all know about it that live near Layton. Hola generacion de bautizadores:
Durante el reinado de papa lopez, en las tierras de promision, se tenia como herramienta para bautizadores los famosos Himnos de los bautizadores.
Estoy terminando de preparar una copia para pasarla a un CD de audio, les comento esto por si algunos de los que estubieron en esa epoca y posteriores quieren una copia, solo tienen que mandarme un correo y decirme donde se las envio.

Hola a todos los gran ex-misioneros y ex-misioneras y tambien los que están sirviendo el Señor ahora en la mejor misión del mundo. I was going through my old photo's and was wondering if anyone knew Celia that lived in Corrientes back in 1990-1992. I have lost contact with her, she had about 5 dogs, and I think that Elder Harff and Semien baptised her. I will have to look and see if I can find her address. Thanks for the help.

To all who could help:
I am just about to graduate and become a spanish teacher, one of the practices that I currently use in my room is to have latin music playing as the students come in and get seated. I have quite a few cds but not as much as a variety that I would like. I am looking for anyone that is willing to help, to send me an email of what music you have and compare it to my current list. I have had some succes recently emailing music files to my family members and this method may work for this too. If you have any interest in helping please let me know.

I have already gotten a lot of response to contributing something to President. So here's what I'm thinking. I'd like to send a big boquet of flowers (or a donation if that is asked for insted) and also I'm going to put together a memory book full of memories of Argentina. So what I need from all of you is pictures and stories. The easiest thing would be for you to email them to me so if you could scan the pictures and attatch them to an email explaining the picture that would be great. I'm thinking the best idea would be to have pictures of you all with the Christensens and also pictures of people and families that you met who were touched by the gospel. We were all greatly influenced by the Christensens and that carried over into those we served. It would be nice for President Christensen to see pictures of many of those people. Also include stories of your favorite memories of the Christensens, the Hermana, or other stories the President would appreciate. Please email those to me at kirstivogeler@hotmail.com I want to put this together fast so please email the pictures and stories by next Monday (the 10th). Thanks for all your help.

For an update, on Tuesday I will be sending in the donation to the Huntsman Cancer Research Center so you have until then to participate. As far as the memory book goes, I’ve received a few pictures and some letters and stories. Please continue to send them in to kirstivogeler@hotmail.com . Also, I’ve had some requests to extend the deadline so that people could spend the weekend gathering thoughts and looking through pictures. I think this is a great idea. The more people we have to contribute the better. Even if you don’t have pictures, please write something whether it is a letter to the President, or a story, or fun memory. At the viewing last night I thought it was incredible that President could remember so much about each of us (where we’re from, what we’re studying, etc.) It’s incredible. So I guarantee he also remembers a lot of the experiences we had in Argentina. If you need to search through your letters that you wrote to him during the mission, do it. So the deadline now is going to be Sunday night the 16th. Thanks for all of your help.

Como ya saben, la Hermana Christensen se fallació el domingo pasado. Para que todos sepan, vamos a hacer un libro de recuerdos para el Presidente Christensen. Lo que necesito de ustedes son fotos, historias, y cartas. Pueden enviarlos por medio de email a kirstivogeler@hotmail.com . Las fotos deben de ser con los Christensen, o de experiencias lindas de la misión, y si pueden decirme quienes están en las fotos sería bueno. Con las historias, pueden contar de experiencias con el presidente, con la hermana, or de algo especial que pasó durante la misión. Y con las cartas pueden escribir lo que quieren decir al Presidente Christensen. Manden lo que pueden antes del 16 de Octubre por la noche. Muchísimas gracias.

acerca de la homosexualidad creo que debemos, en primer lugar, conocer lo que la Iglesia a travez del Señor y de sus profetas nos han enseñado acerca del trato que debemos tener con este tipo de problema que aqueja a la humanidad.
sin ir tan lejos, en cada unidad de la iglesia existe bibliografia acerca de como debemos, como lideres, encarar este tipo de problemas. Desde ya cabe acotar que nos autollamamos "cristianos", porque logicamente seguimos las enseñanzas del Salvador, por ello debemos aplicar esas misma, debemos poner en practico el "amor puro de cristo".
en algunos de los mensajes pude leer que alguien dijo que no debemos dejar que esto siga sucediendo, refiriendose a la proclamacion al mundo, y esto es asi, pero la clave es que se debe hacer...
"A LA MANERA DEL SEÑOR". como nuetros lideres nos enseñan. El Señor nos ama y ama a todos sus hijos, y a todos nos a dado oportunidades.

Lo siento por belabor el tema, pero con todas las discusiones sobre la homosexualidad, pensé que sería apropiado leer por lo menos lo que enseña nuestro profeta. Esta cita se encuentra en www.mormon.org.
Gordon B. Hinckley, presidente de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Ultimos Dias publicó la declaración siguiente sobre la homosexualidad:
" En primer lugar, creemos que el matrimonio entre el hombre y la mujer fue decretado por Dios. Creemos que el matrimonio puede ser eterno mediante el ejercicio del poder del sacerdocio sempiterno en la Casa del Señor.
La gente nos pregunta acerca de nuestra posición con respecto a aquellos que se consideran "gays" o lesbianas. Mi respuesta es que los amamos como hijos e hijas de Dios; pueden tener ciertas inclinaciones que son poderosas y que pueden ser difíciles de dominar. La mayoría de la gente tiene inclinaciones de una u otra clase en diferentes épocas. Si ellos no actúan de conformidad con esas inclinaciones, entonces pueden seguir adelante como todos los demás miembros de la Iglesia. Si violan la ley de castidad y las normas morales de la Iglesia, entonces están sujetos a la disciplina de la Iglesia, tal como los demás.
Deseamos ayudar a esas personas, fortalecerlas, auxiliarlas en sus problemas y socorrerlas en sus dificultades; pero no podemos quedarnos sin hacer nada si se entregan a actividades inmorales, si intentan sustentar, defender y vivir lo que llaman el matrimonio de personas del mismo sexo. Permitir semejante cosa sería restarle importancia tanto a la sumamente seria y sagrada base del matrimonio autorizado por Dios como al propósito mismo de éste que es el de tener hijos.”

Sorry to belabor the point, but with all the discussions on homosexuality, I thought it would be appropriate to at least read what our current prophet teaches on this matter. This comes directly from www.mormon.org.
Gordon B. Hinckley, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, issued the following statement about homosexuality:
"We believe that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. We believe that marriage may be eternal through exercise of the power of the everlasting priesthood in the house of the Lord.
"People inquire about our position on those who consider themselves so-called gays and lesbians. My response is that we love them as sons and daughters of God. They may have certain inclinations which are powerful and which may be difficult to control. Most people have inclinations of one kind or another at various times. If they do not act upon these inclinations, then they can go forward as do all other members of the Church. If they violate the law of chastity and the moral standards of the Church, then they are subject to the discipline of the Church, just as others are.
"We want to help these people, to strengthen them, to assist them with their problems and to help them with their difficulties. But we cannot stand idle if they indulge in immoral activity, if they try to uphold and defend and live in a so-called same-sex marriage situation. To permit such would be to make light of the very serious and sacred foundation of God-sanctioned marriage and its very purpose, the rearing of families" (Ensign, Nov. 1998, 71).

El mensaje de Sergio Herrera no es sólo ofensivo sino que también absurdo... desde cuando leer libros, trabajar en la industria de confección de prendas y no ayudar en la casa tienen que ver con la orientación sexual del individuo? Esos argumentos son de troglodita, mi viejo.
Y yo me pregunto, qué hay de los mormones gays... los hermanos y hermanas que van siempre a la iglesia, que siempre están ahí en las reuniones haciendo su parte, cumpliendo llamamientos.... hermanos que han pasado los 30 y que obviamente son homosexuales... vas a odiarlos también?
Siempre hay alguno en el Barrio... y en la misión también, o Herrera piensa que hay un muro que nos divide? No, hay muchos élderes y hermanas que sirven con fervor y que por dentro viven una lucha por saber qué son... porque aunque nos admitan sus sentimientos, están ahí en lo más oculto de ellos...
Ellos y ellas van a tener el doble privilegio de que sean el objetivo de tu odio, Herrera y del propio... porque tener la mala suerte de nacer homosexual en la iglesia ya es bastante para una persona, y más un o una joven...
En esos años de la adolescencia que son tan importantes para la formación del carácter... ellos y ellas encuentran que las cosas son más complicadas que para sus amigos...
Crecer en un ambiente tan homofóbico ya es de por sí difícil y más cuando dentro mismo de la organización en vez de encontrar apoyo la persona encuentra más hostilidad y falta de comprensión, y en tu caso Herrera hasta muestras de una ignorancia que dan vergüenza.
Que el Señor te bendiga con un hijo o hija homosexual para que aprendas algo de caridad.

Estimado Sergio,
Comparto contigo que debemos luchar (en el buen sentido) en contra de la homosexualidad. Pero con respecto al presidente de Argentina y ese asunto de los pepinos que decis, de donde lo sacaste? y lo ultimo, que mejor privilegio de poder servir y ayudar a tu esposa en los quehaceres del hogar, hacerlo no es de maricon. Espero que no te ofendas.
