Sister Ruth Reynolds passed away 05 Aug 2011
RUTH REYNOLDS
Ruth Marjorie Kim Reynolds "Loving Mother" Ruth Marjorie Kim Reynolds, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on July 29, 2011. She was born on May 12, 1926, to Francis Oscar Sigfred Kim and Amelia Maria Erickson. She was born and raised in Sandy, Utah. She attended Sandy Elementary and Jordan High School. Ruth and the love of her life, C. Shirley Reynolds, were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple December 7, 1943. They had six children together, Kim and his wife, Ann; Shirleen Burkinshaw and her husband, Craig; Connie Pearson and her husband, Craig, Lance and his wife, Leslie; Brad and his wife, Kathy; Rob and his wife, Michelle. Ruth has 30 grandchildren, three of whom are currently serving full-time missions, and 46 great-grandchildren, whom she truly loved and supported. Ruth is also survived by two sisters, Venice Perkins and Velma Birch. Ruth came to know her Father in Heaven through her extensive service to the Gospel. She was a dedicated and loyal visiting teacher and loved to visit and mingle with anyone who needed her cheer. She was willing to serve 20 years in the Primary Presidency and after the death of her husband, served nine years as Relief Society President. She also served as Young Women President. She taught Relief Society lessons at the Retirement Inn for five years. She was willing and happy to accept any calling the Lord asked of her. She was a devoted mother and everything she did was to ensure the happiness and success of her children. She was extremely proud of her family and eternally grateful for their kindness and love shown to her. She never went through a Mother's Day without an Orchid corsage. This continued even after her husband passed away. Ruth was an avid BYU fan. She stood and cheered through almost every BYU football game she could attend. She was an "adopted" member of the Daughters of the Pioneers and very much enjoyed meeting with them monthly. One of the most anticipated things she did was to go to Bear Lake with her family. She was ever diligent in seeing to it that everyone had a good time and plenty of food to eat. Her family association at Bear Lake was dear to her heart and her family will be eternally grateful for all that Ruth and Shirley provided for them. Ruth loved being involved in missionary work. She served valiantly with her husband as Mission President in Perth, Australia. She showed great courage and love when she told her husband she would go wherever they were called, even though Perth was as far from her family as could be. Ruth was a very gracious hostess and her home was always open to family and friends. She loved having people around her and enjoyed their company immensely. She inspired others by her style and grace. She spoke kindly of others and showed genuine concern for their welfare. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will be greatly missed. We will always cherish the time she spent with us and will remember her great example. Everything she did was done out of love. She will live in our hearts forever. We know she is with her sweetheart, Shirley. We look forward to being reunited with them. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at 12:00 noon, in the South Cottonwood Stake Center, 1250 East 4800 South in Holladay. Friends may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday, from 11-11:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment, Murray City Cemetery. Online condolences: www.jenkins-soffe.com
