After I returned home in 1987 I went back to Ricks College for a year, then transferred to BYU where I got my B.S. and M.L.I.S. (Library Science) degrees, and where I met and married Laura Wolz. My first job out of grad school was in central New Hampshire, where we lived for four years; then we moved to Greensboro, NC for three years, and we now live in the Reno area. Laura was a high school Spanish teacher when we married, but she now stays home with our three children: Maggie (13), Bryan (10) and Tucker (7). I'm the Director of Acquisitions in the University of Nevada, Reno Libraries. I've been able to do a little bit of international travel over the past few years, attending meetings and doing some consulting work, but the closest I've come to the mission area was when I had a connecting flight in the Brussels airport. It was pretty much unrecognizable (which I guess is to be expected, 20 years later...)
I don't think a day goes by that I don't think back gratefully on my mission experiences and the wonderful companions I had. I still quote President Walker all the time -- especially about "decisions of character vs. decisions of sympathy."
