Presidents: Roue L. Hogan (1981 - 1984) | | Served: 1982 - 1983 | | Language(s) spoken:Spanish | Areas Served: East LA, North Hollywood, Burbank, Montebello, San Gabriel, Highland Park | Companions: Richard Donald Mclean | Clay Stevens | | Your Occupation: Business Analyst | | Spouse: Julene | Comments: I just heard about the recent passing of Pres Hogan. While I think of the time I served as a missionary often, I have done a very poor job of even trying to keep in touch with those I served with and those I served. Interestingly, the lessons learned and the spirit felt have never left me. It's amazing how much 18 months (I always felt a little cheated about that!) can make in one's life.
I've had the opportunity of serving in many callings and have enjoyed them all. I've especially enjoyed the opportunity of working with missionaries. I've been a ward mission leader several times, in the stake mission presidency - back when we had those, and I've even extended mission calls and spoke with released missionaries upon their return. My how times pass.
Names and faces have faded a little, but the memories burn strong. Recently I had the opportunity of spending some time in some of my old areas. As I drove down Whittier Boulevard I thought of my first area. I saw my first apartment building (near Whittier and Montebello) and later drove over to the housing project I lived near later Olympic and Sixth Street. Anyone remember the murials on the buildings? My favorite was of Che, I'm happy to report they've continued to keep it up.
Time to go, my little guy's ready for his nap. (We have 4 children, the oldest is 7 and the youngest is 18 months - I married and started my family later than most I'm sure!) |

| LDS QUOTE: |
|
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord’s work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
