I just found it recently and thought I would register. Looking through the names on this site sure brings back a lot of fond memories. I still keep in touch with Bryan Jeppson pretty regularly and occasionally I hear from Troy Waters. After my mission I attended BYU. I lived in Taiwan for two separate summers and learned Mandarin Chinese. I came back to BYU and graduated in '89. I then got my J.D./M.B.A. from BYU in '94 and was admitted to the Utah State Bar. I've practiced law ever since. I've been an in-house attorney with Neways, a company in Springville, Utah since 2001. That job has been wonderful and I've been able to use my language skills and travelled all over the world, but mostly in Asia. I got married in 2000 to my beautiful wife Michelle. I was 36 and she was 30, a little later than usual, but it has worked out well. She is a convert and served a mission in Spain. We have 3 beautiful children, ages 2, 4 and 6 so either they are keeping me young or prematurely aging me. After my mission I began seriously studying the guitar and I learned blues, jazz and rock styles and played quite a bit in different bands, as well as taught. I'm also restoring a 1962 Oldsmobile Cutlass, and am about finished. That has been a fun hobby. My wife has just been released from her calling in the Relief Society presidency and I currently teach Sunday School to high school aged kids in our ward. We have a nice ward and live in the country in rural southern Utah County, Utah. It has been our only home since we were married and we love it. I truly loved my mission and the people I served. I use my language when I can, but those chances are much fewer now. I can't imagine what my life would be like if I hadn't served as a missionary. It was truly a blessing and has shaped my life for good in ways I couldn't have imagined. I often think fondly of the Elders I served with and who were my companions and truly wish them all the best. |
