Looking for Two Sisters!!! 19 Nov 2003
Hi I am looking for two sister missionaries who served ariund 1981-1985. Thats when sister missionaries knocked on my grandmothers door in Oxnard. Her name was Estela Quinones Aguilar. She has two daughters Rachel and Mariela. they helped convert my grandmother and one of her daughters Mariela. I'd like to thank these missionaries because they brough the church into so many lives without realizing the ripple effect. Mariela married in the temple on January 15, 1994 and had three daughters. Rachel Ruiz, the daughter who hasn't converted had four daughter, that are all baptized and very active. Because these sister missionaries knocked on my grandmothers door a total of seven additional people had the privilege of growing up with the gospel. I am Ariel the second oldest granddaughter of Estela and the oldest daughter of Mariela. Melody the oldest granddaughter is currently serving her mission in the Argentina Neuquen Mission and I will be going on my mission in about 5 months I will know in January where i will be serving. I would love to find and thank thses missionaries who touched the lives of so many. If this sounds familiar to you, please email me! I do know one of the sisters was Sister Flores. I pray someone will find me who can point me in the right direction to finding these people.

The Gonzalez Family 24 Mar 2003
Hello everyone,

I'm looking for the Gonzalez family (Dad-Roberto and Mom-Rosa, they 7 children) that my companion (Hna. Connie Brock) and I taught and baptized. They use to live in Bakersfield (where they were baptized), but the last time I heard they had moved further south in California. I've lost all connections with them. If you know where they're at please let me know.
Thanks,
Hermana Diana Chavez (formally Garcia)

Adding Companions 08 Sep 2002
There appears to be a question of how to add companions to your profile when registering. The question may also have to do with letting missionary friends you served with, but were not companions with, know that you have registered on the website.

Well, selecting companions is easy enough. You can only select those who are registered on the website. Those who are not, their names are simply not available to pick from in the list. What you can do here is list their names in your comments area.

When you register, you want to be sure to select the dates you served your mission. The reason for this is so that when your registration is approved, an email notification is automatically sent to ALL missionaries from the same era, not just the companions you selected. You also want to select the mission president you served under so he too can be notified if he has email. Remember that when you register you can select whether to turn on or off the notifications. So if a missionary you served with, but was not your companion, and they have selected to not to be notified when a missionary from their era registers, they will not be notified of your registration.

We are very respectful of everyone's privacy. None of your email addresses or personal information will be sold or distributed. ALL of the personal information you enter can also be hidden from non-registered users. It means only those users who are actually logged in to the website will be able to view your address and phone number, and only if you selected YES during the profile registration. You can go back and edit this at any time folks.

I hope this explanation has been helpful. The registration process is setup to accomodate everyone. Please do not get into the habit of listing companions that you actually did not serve with...rather list those as friends if you like in the comments section.

Thanks,
Dave van der Leek

The August newsletter for the California Ventura Mission is now online. I have changed the format to display a scanned image of the newsletter instead of retyping the entire text into the website. I have assurance from the mission office that they will send me the newsletter on a monthly basis from now on to be added to the alumni website. Click on Mission Newsletter to go and view it now.

I've also added a new Chat module to the alumni site. When someone is in chat mode, you will see below the navigation bar a Chat in Progress indicator. Check out our new Chat Room

Murdock 2002 Reunion Report 06 Aug 2002
Dear Beloved Returned Missionaries:

We returned home from teaching in China the end of June and since have had one son get married, a missionary reunion and a trip with our family to Yellowstone. We have another son getting married this week, followed by a trip to Texas for a reception and then 2 family reunions. What an eventful summer! In our spare time we are trying to develop a tobacco education teaching model that can be used in Chinese universities. Who said retirement was boring?

Our Missionary Reunion held on July 27 was wonderful! We met in Bountiful at a city park bowery and were able to have some excellent individual visiting time with almost everyone there. We had a large turn out, many with spouses and children, and were there for over 4 hours. Some of us went to Mark Romney's wedding reception together when we finished visiting. We are still convinced that the California Ventura Mission is the best in the world and that our particular group of missionaries are the finest that have ever served! In our eyes you will always be number one and will always belong to us! We are proud of each of you and the direction in which you are taking your lives.

Please let us know if your emails have changed. We would also like to know if you think we should continue to hold our reunions in July. Don't forget that our faith, love and prayers are ever with you. We look forward to our continued contact!

Love, President & Sister Murdock
