Alumni Jesse Ryan Johnson (2004-2006) Passed Away 31 Dec 2008
As passed along by President Gary Young:

Jesse Ryan Johnson
1985-2008
HYRUM, Utah - Jesse Ryan Johnson was born in Logan, Utah, on July 31, 1985.
He died in the mountains east of Providence, Utah, on Christmas Eve, Dec.
24, 2008, alongside his lifelong friend, Eric Jorgensen. He lived in Hyrum,
Utah, throughout most of his life. He graduated from Mountain Crest High
School and seminary in 2004. He served a two-year mission for The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 2004 to
2006. He was enrolled in plumbing school and employed by his cousin, Tyson
Campbell, at the time of his death. He spent his summers working a gill net
fishing operation for his grandfather Campbell on the beaches of Alaska's
Kenai Peninsula where he was affectionately known as "beach boss". Jesse
received his Duty to God award and his Eagle Scout badge. Excellence was
his trademark. He demanded it of himself and expected it of others. He was
the quintessential big brother and was a model and hero to his younger
siblings. His father said of him, "If I had to choose someone to do a job
on which my life depended, I'd send Jesse." He was a consummate
outdoorsman. He was hardy and tough and could hike all day in any kind of
weather. He didn't even know how to complain; it just wasn't in him. His
true passion, however, was missionary work. He described his mission as the
happiest time of his life. A series of remarkable events since his death
has led his family to believe that he has once again been called to a
mission of rescue. His companion in this service is most assuredly Eric
Jorgensen. His younger brother, Benjamin, currently serving in the
Washington D.C. South Mission, quoted the following scripture given to him
by Jesse: John 16:22 "And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you
again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you."
He is survived by his parents, Corey Barnett Johnson and Teri Lynn Campbell
Johnson; his siblings, Benjamin Campbell Johnson, Karli Johnson, Levi Boyd
Johnson, and Sophie Laura Johnson, all of Hyrum, Utah; his grandparents,
Dell Andrew Johnson, of Logan, Delois B. Johnson, of Hyrum, Boyd Oscar
Campbell and Beverly Campbell, of Logan. He was preceded in death by his
uncle Todd, uncle Kelly and uncle Bill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Hyrum
North Stake Center, 245 North 750 East ( 245 North Apple Drive) in Hyrum. A
viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, at Allen-Hall
Mortuary, 34 East Center St., in Logan, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior
to the services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Hyrum
City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family
online at www.allenmortuaries.net.
