After 20 years in Idaho and 10 years in Utah, I've been in Northern California for 9 years now. I've been married to Hermana Gina Acevedo for 21 years now and we have four wonderful children: a daughter and three boys. Erika (20) will be at BYU-Idaho this fall ('07) and Jon(19) is headed to the Chile Santiago North mission after going to the MTC in Provo in June. Bruce (17) will be a senior in high school while Josh (10) will be in sixth grade. We love it here in the agricultural Central Valley about 100 miles east of San Francisco and about 75 miles south of Sacramento. We love our ward and the people of our Modesto California North Stake. I just finished my sixth year of teaching and have really enjoyed it very much. Gina is a bilingual aide here in our school district and they are lucky to have her.
A quick memory I have is when Elder Chandia and I baptized the first family from Lanco. The baptism was held in Loncoche and when we arrived to perform the ordinances, the font was only filled barely 6 inches (with cold water). Someone ran down to the fire station and the bomberos whipped a truck out and rushed down to the church house, threw the hose over the back fence, and into the shed with the font and had it filled in less than 5 minutes!!!! (and with warmer water!!!) We are thankful for the Gospel and for the blessings it brings.
