Stories: Early Membership

| In 1961 I was one of the very first members in San Bernardo, therefore, the only member in my entire all girls school. It was the norm to have to take Catholic Theology as part of the curriculum. I'll never forget the day the Priest (Padre) aske me to explain the Trinity. I stood up in front of the class and said....this is what you taught us which frankly makes no sense at all, but the truth is.....and proceeded to explain in great detail the three separate beings. He quickly lost control of the class because the true gospel of Jesus Christ made more sense to the students. He threw me out the class. I went straight to the Principal's office and explained to her that Chile was a free country, with freedom of religion, and could not be obligated to remain in the Priest's class. She agreed. To this day I can see the wonder/hate in this older man's eyes towards an 11 year old girl that hopefully stirred his mind to "the truth". |
