Hi Everyone,
Chad and Irene Hart are going to be in Salt Lake City from the 5th-15th of July and I'm planning a BBQ at my parents' house while they're here. We're planning on the 8th of July. We want as many people to come as possible. Let me know if you'd like to come and I'll send out more details as they come.

LDS Singles in Hong Kong 16 Jun 2009
Hello everyone,

I’m a former missionary from ‘90-‘92. I am looking for any information that can be provided on the topic of if there is a “singles program” in Hong Kong.

I may be traveling there this fall for several weeks (between 2–6) and, since I am single, I wonder what programs, wards, activities, contacts, conferences, socials, dances, events etc... might be available to attend while in Hong Kong. I may very well, and hope to meet up with some old friends while in HK.

I am very involved in the singles program in my stake and region. I am looking for every opportunity to widen my circle of friends in the singles community, both home and abroad. As a bonus, my parents and family are excited that I would seek this opportunity too. You see, my mother is from HK and my father is from America. They both served their mission in HK. My brother served his mission in HK also, as did his wife, she’s from Singapore. I guess it runs in the family.

You can email me at eyzzidjd@yahoo.com if you have any information, or just want to say hi!

Thanks!!

seek Mandarin speaker 13 Mar 2009
I am seeking to find a church member with missionary spirit who: Speaks and writes in Mandarin, has a Mandarin keyboard, has a strong testimony, is active in the church and wants to share the gospel and is willing to do so via email conversation.

I have made an online friend in China who is not affiliated with any church, but who is spiritual and wants to know more of the church. I've shared some with her of the Gospel. But she speaks only a little English, so much of what I try to share goes through a non-member translator. r I've invited her to learn of the gospel by talking online with a Mandarin speaking missionary. She is wanting to and is anxious to do so.
I've contacted theMTC in Provaro asking for contacts with a Mandarin speaking missionary and I have given them her email address. They said someone would contact her soon. That was about 10 days ago, and no one has contacted her yet. She is wondering why no one will send her an email message to start telling her of the Gospel, in Mandarin. And I am wondering too? I speculate that since there is no mission established within China, beyond the Hong Kong mission, that the church is cautious to have an active missionary formally representing the Church in doing missionary work within China, even vicariously via email.
I don't know if that's the case, but it may be. And I'm thinking if someone who is not a currently sanctioned to represent the church as a missionary were to talk with her and teach her the gospel, just as an acquaintance or friend, that would create no perception as a problem in any way. I'd do it myself, if I could speak and write in Mandarin. But I can't.
So I am hoping and wanting to find an active church member with a strong testimony, who can teach my friend the gospel in Mandarin via email.
She lives in Hunan in Southern China. Her daughter lives in Guangzhou, near Hong Kong. So, if the email teaching went well and she felt the Spirit and wanted to learn more, she could visit at her daughter's home, then go to talk with church members in Hong Kong. And if she desired, she could be baptized and confirmed there.
She is a 48 year old widow and I have the feeling she is very sincere in her strong desire to learn of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I would imagine she could learn from anyone with Mandarin language and keyboard abilities and a testimony and knowledge of the Gospel. Perhaps she might relate well to a sister to talk with her? But I'm sure she would welcome anyone who could tell her of the Gospel in her native Mandarin language. She asks me repeatedly "When will someone be able to tell me and teach me of religion, in my own language?"
If anyone on this site can help or give me suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. If you contact me at randnf@yahoo.com, I can give you her direct email address so you might introduce yourself and start teaching her, if you could do so, to any extent.

Elder Nip and Elder Tang 28 Jan 2008
January 28, 2008
Our dear Missionaries,

I have been recovering from hand surgery, and this is my first day back at the computer. I was hoping to send all of you a cheery "Gung Hay Fat Choi", and still do, but will save the Lowe news for another day and send some more important news.

Probably all of you know either Elder Nip from 1992, or Elder Andrew Tang from 1995. Some of you have heard by now that they are both battling cancer. Elder Nip, who has been living with his family in Washington state where he practices law, has returned to Hong Kong to seek treatment for color cancer. Elder Tang was diagnosed last week with a very rare brain cancer and has already taken his young family to Singapore, and has begun treatment today.

They have been in our prayers, and we hope they will be in yours. Whenever you can, please put their names on the prayer roll of your Temple each time you go. President Lowe and I love these two young men, and grieve that they are having to deal with this terrible and frightening disease.

We talked with Elder Tang yesterday, and said that he has felt blessed as certain things have fallen into place for his treatment and for his family's care. We certainly hope that our Elders and their wives and children will feel the hand of the Lord in their lives.

I'll check the CHKM web site to make sure that their contact information is there. And we'll post information there on their progress.

Our love to all of you,
President and Sister Lowe
