My first mission assignment was to the Cali 5th Branch where I served with Elder Danley. He was recently released as Branch President (branch member Rafael Patino was newly called). Transferred to the Palmira where I served with Elder Ingoldsby. He was serving as branch president. Transferred to serve in Venezuela, but stopped in Cucuta to serve a few days with seven other elders opening that city to the work. It was an interesting experience. We participated in an international basketball tournament which was very well attended and brought a LOT of attention to the Church. After serving several months in Valencia, Venezuela, I was transferred with Elder Covington to open the city of Pasto to the work. Elder Covington was the branch president and I was his branch (no members in the city). From Pasto I was transferred back to Caracas, Venezuela to serve as an assistant to President Brower. When the Colombia-Venezuela mission was split, I was sent to Bogota to serve as an assistant (along with Elder Roberts) to President Calvert. |
