Comments:
We have loved serving the Lord as missionaries. It has been a large part of our lives since we were each younger. We first met at a "mission home-coming" in Wyoming (mine) -- and then after a wonderful courtship, a marriage to become eternal companions! Then we were soon called to serve stake missions together, a 3 year CES Mission to Western Samoa while still young (in our early 30's) -- and then more stake and ward missions. All this time, we were raising our 8 children and helping all 5 sons (and 1 daughter) serve missions. We became very involved with their investigators through letters, phone calls, etc. (It was our way of "still serving" a mission). Then in 2003, after our last child (Spencer) was married, we approached our Bishop and said, "We want to serve a mission". The paperwork was done -- but, we learned from our medical reports that we both had cancer. Still determined to go, we waited a year during which time we had surgeries and cancer treatments. So, 1 year later (2004) we were then ready to really go -- in January! This has been a wonderful experience and we will always regard it as a great chapter in our lives. We can honestly say that a person can read every book about missionaries, attend every Sacrament Meeting in which a missionary speaks -- BUT, it is not until you serve a mission that you really know and feel what a mission is all about. Besides all of that, our family has been truly blessed in our absence -- and they know it. We will be realeased in July but then want to serve another mission a few months later. THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST IS TRUE!
