Just a note to all of our former missionaries. President Cardon and I put in our papers a few months ago and have been "called to serve." We are in the Mexico North Area office. Pdte has been called to be the executive secretary to the area presidency and I process all of the outgoing missionaries from the North Mexico area. We are busy and happy in our callings. Looking at these prospective missionary applications every day brings happy memories into my heart. We hope all of you are doing well and are giving your best efforts to your families and the Lord. If you want to contact us, here are our e-mail addresses. cardonbo -at- ldschurch -dot- org and cardonte -at- ldschurch -dot- org. It is great to be wearing the little black tag and being called hermana once again.
Our love to you all, Hna. Cardon

Great to hear about the Chaverri family. I started my mission in Guapiles and went to the Chaverri home the moment I got to Guapiles. Elder Chaverri was the branch president back then. When my trainer, Elder Radford, took me to the Chaverri home I got a rude awakening--I couldn't understand President Chaverri AT ALL because he spoke so fast, told so many jokes and used so many "dichos." His boys were about 17 and 12 years old at the time. Good kids. I played tennis with them on p-day once.
I have great memories of the Chaverris and Guapiles. Can't wait to go back! So great to hear that there are two wards there. When I was there, the new chapel was under construction and we were meeting in the old theater. Ahhhh... fond memories of that makeshift capilla, as well as the "new" chapel on calle fruta de pan. When I was in Siquirres a few months later, we did all of our baptisms in the Guapiles chapel--the Siguirres building was being built at the time. I love la zona Atlantica!

Thanks for the news about the Chaverri's. I actually served twice in Guapiles during my mission, and of course, the Chaverri family was key back then too. When I was there Elder Chaverri was the branch presidency, and his sons were still in school. I'd love to have their information to send a big hello! This is a very special family. Thanks......Liahni Chandler Hamrick

Polly Johnson posted a message asking about Presidente Chaverri. The email I typed to send couldn't go, so will post this way. We just returned in April from serving 18 months in Guapiles, C.R. Now in Guapiles there are 2 wards, Pres. Chaverri served as Stake Pres for 12 years, and is now Elder Chaverri, a member of the 4th quorum of 70. His son Claudio is a member of the Stake Presidency and other son, Alejandro is bishop of Pococi Ward. If you find this information and want phone #, etc., write another note here.

Thanks to all of you that came to the Hendrick's reunion. It was a lot of fun to see so many familiar and un-familiar faces!! For those of you that couldn't make it - the Hendricks looked great. They are doing very great in California. Their kids are also doing good - the youngest - Leslie is on a mission in Argentina (if you can believe it - she was around 6 or 7 when we were there). Pte. Hendricks is a Spanish Branch President and they love it. We ate tres leches, gallo-pinto, arroz con pollo and ensalada remolacha plus a lot of good "pot-luck" food. It was also Pte. Hendricks' birthday. Let's all try to keep in touch and we hope to see the rest of you next time!! Kelly

Ominae Casey (misionero Tico 7/'98 - 7/'00)

Gibbs, Don't worry I think it is cuz there are a lot of new ones. Thanks Fransisco for posting those. It is cool to see how some have changed. It was also nice to see Ipis has its own church.
You're right Casey, Gibbs did spend most of his time playing futbol!

Gibbsy, you can't recognize the chapels because the pics weren't taken from the basketball courts, which is where we all know you spent a good majority of your mission playing poppy futbol with "investigators". Haha! My excuse for not recognizing the chaps is that many of them were built after I'd left the areas, you know, from the great masses of people I helped find a place in the Gospel.

Those church and temple pics are great! But am I the only one who doesn't recognize the names? I think some have changed names since 2000. Anyway, holla back at me!

Hi there! I need to send for some birth, death and marriage certificates, but I don't know where to write for the info. Can anybody help me with this? I also need to know about some children that my grandparents had, but none of my relatives remember them because they died before my relatives were born. Thank you for your help.

Hello again,
One of my favorite breakfasts in the morning on my mission was eating pan con queso de Turrialba. Does anyone know how they make that bread? If so, could you please let me know. Thank you all for your help. Once the bakery opens and at the next reunion, I will have to bring lots of food to repay everyone for their help. Thanks again.

Hello everyone. I am going to be opening a bakery in Northern California. I have had a lot of requests for Tres Leches. I have looked and looked and tried some of them, but none are like I remember from the mission. Does anyone have a recipe that they don't mind sharing with me. Thanks for your help and PURA VIDA.

LDS QUOTE: |
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
