Recent Reunion 11 Oct 2006
Sister Acosta and I want to thank all the missionaries who made the effort and attended the recent missionary reunion held on 29 September in Salem, Utah. We all had a wonderful time together remenising our past in the mission field.
We expected about 90 to 100 missionaries and close to 130 appeared. What a great surprise. We had a large screen which showed slides of random pictures of missionaries in the field; we had on display the "Liberty Flag" which represented our baptismal covenants with the Lord and renewing our effort to share the gospel message with more energy; we had a small program and Sister Acosta and I gave a brief spiritual message to uplift our spirits. At least we hope it did.

The event was held from 7 to 9pm. at 10pm we still had others show up. Sister Acosta and I left when the last missionary left at 11:15pm. Wow what a great night.

At the reunion, a committee of six individuals volunteered to organize the next reunion to be held during the April conference in 2007 and we expect it will be even bigger. Please keep an eye out for the information on this web site.

We love you and always pray for each of you.

President and Sister Acosta

Message from Bergendi Hatch 03 Oct 2006
Hola! I am staying in Quepos until December and was wondering where the nearest ward/branch is. Also, I was wondering where the nearest missionaries are serving so I could see about obtaining some El Libros de Mormon en español. If you could let me know that would be wonderful.
Muchos gracias.

Fallecimiento Noe Leiva 22 Jun 2006

Panama Temple! 20 May 2006
I need to get some more photos! We are finally beginning to see some progress on the Temple! I don't think it will be dedicated until early 2008, but we are seeing Rebar out of the group, up to the second floor! There are really not good places to take pictures of the progress. There is no place high enough to get photos of what is going on where we are permitted to be, but I will try to get some photos from below!

They are cutting the road up the hill to Cardenas, I think to put some large drainage culverts in, so sometimes traffic is one way going up or down the hill.

But now the rains are beginning in serious and cement is in short supply in Panama. I think that construction has increased something like 600% over last year here in Panama, so you get on a waiting list and just wait and get what cement one can. It iwll be interesting to see it go up!

Any specific questions please feel free to ask! Perhaps we can get an answer! See you all in 2008!

Ciao,

Dewey J. Levie

Elder Marchant? 20 May 2006
Just had a wonderful visit from Rubiel Arrocha and his wife Jacqueline O. de Arrocha and his sister in law Lourdes Gisela Porras de Navarro.

I'm not sure I remember everything correctly, but I thik that Lourdes was taught by Elder Marchant and I believe the my wife, Maribel Lopez de Levie was taught by Elder Marchant. I don't remember his first name, it seems like it might have been David Marchant, but not sure about that. I think he had glasses, at least an elder that I have a photo of that I remember as Elder Marchant has glasses. My wife doesn't remember him having glasses.

I think we may have lived in the same pad in Samaria at the Martinez home. I worked in San Miguelito but we lived right on the border in Samaria with the Martinez family and I think that there were like 6 of us elders living there.

I remember Elder Rapp, myself, Elder Marchant, although not sure if he lived their with us. But I think there were two pairs of Elder's from Samaria or one from Pedregal and one from Samaria. I remember an Elder Darren ? I remember Elder Cartwrights from Phoenix.

Hard to remember everybody! I am getting old!

Anyway if anybody know of Elder Marchant please encourage him to register on this site so that we can contact him as well as any of the other of these Elders.

Also if anybody remembers sister Lourdes Gisela Porras please contact her at lourdesporras49@hotmail.com and the Arrocha's at rube193@yahoo.es

Thanks,

Dewey J. Levie

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
