Daron Gatherum

Dear Family and Friends,

Merry Christmas to you all! We hope this letter finds you happy, healthy, and enjoying the holidays. We thought we would take a moment and give you an update on the Gatherum family. We still reside in Duchesne and plan to be here for many more years. We love the people and the "small town" atmosphere.

Daron is still teaching at Duchesne High School. He continues to coach football, basketball, and track and is also the History Department Head and StudentBody Officer advisor. He completed his Masters Degree in May of this year and was thrilled to have it finished. He is the second counselor in the Bishopric which keeps him fairly busy.

Jen loves being a stay-at-home mom. She only has two kids at home during the day and she enjoys every minute with them. They keep her busy! She is the secretary in the Primary Presidency which fits her perfectly because she loves being with the kids!

Alex is in 3rd grade and doing great! He loves school, reading, and sports! He'll start his third season of Jr. Jazz in January! He LOVES basketball and has aspirations of playing in the NBA one day! He helps the High School team by going to games and keeping their stats! He was baptized in June and is enjoying scouts and working on his Faith in God award.

Brendan is in 1st grade and loves being at school all day with Alex. He is looking forward to his first season of Jr. Jazz! Brendan is an incredible artist and will spend hours "creating" different projects. He has a fascination with bugs and we believe he'll be an entomologist one day!

Ashlyn is four going on fourteen! She is ALL girl and loves dolls, make-up, jewelry, and dress-up clothes. She is spoiled by everyone and she loves it! We were thrilled this year when she finally decided to be potty-trained!

Tate is our baby, or should we say toddler! He will be 2 in February! He has such a fun personality and he keeps everyone in the family laughing! He's learning and growing so fast we just can't believe how fast the time passes!

This has been a good year for the Gatherum family. We are so grateful for all that the Lord has blessed us with this year! We are grateful for this holiday season when we can celebrate the birth of our Savior. May the Christmas spirit fill your homes at this special time of year. We love you all!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

TRIP TO GREECE

The year 2004 has been an eventful one for our family. It started out with our two-week trip to Greece in January where we had an enjoyable time driving throughout the country visiting Jamie’s mission areas and other places he never got to see while he was there. We visited Athens, Thessoloniki, Corinth, Delphi, Marathonas, Philipi, Meteora, Epidavros, Sunio and Mount Olympus. We had a great time visiting with dear friends and seeing the beautiful sights.

GRADUATION FROM UMD

Jamie had a great performance for his Masters Recital in May, fulfilling one of his requirements needed to graduate with his Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Maryland.

TAKING IT EASIER

Mandi continued teaching ESOL and German, and working at SLTI (Second Language Testing, Inc.) until the end of May when she just got too big and tired to handle everything. She finished teaching but continued to work at SLTI part-time until a week before Monroe was born. During that time she trained Jamie to do her job while she was on maternity leave. Now she’s back to working a couple days a week at SLTI where she is able to bring Monroe to work with her as well as teach once a week at the German School. Jamie continues to work daily at SLTI along with teaching at the high school and his private students.

TRIP TO NEW YORK

At the end of May, despite being VERY great with child, Mandi agreed to go with Jamie, his parents and his sister, Rebecca to visit New York City. We visited Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, Ground Zero, Central Park, and the Metropolitan Art Museum. We also attended two Broadway musicals, Phantom of the Opera, and It’s a Wonderful Town. We had a great time, but Mandi would like to go again when she’s not so pregnant. We were all impressed with NY’s compassion toward pregnant women, especially when it saved us an hour long wait in line at the Empire State Building.

ARRIVAL OF MONROE BINGHAM ADAMS

Only three days after the due date, including 28 hours of labor, and an unplanned transfer from the Maternity Center to Shady Grove Hospital, Mandi delivered a beautiful baby boy via C-Section at 7:30 am on July 30, 2004. Monroe was a whopping 9 lbs, 8 oz and 21 & ¾ inches long, with white blonde hair. He is a very happy and easy-going baby, for which his parents are very grateful.

UPCOMING AUDITIONS

This next year will most likely result in a move seeing as Jamie is currently applying and preparing for doctoral programs in music at various universities in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and Georgia. Who knows where we’ll end up?!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We’d like to wish you a wonderful Christmas season and a Happy New Year. May God bless you and your family.

Rob Moore

Merry Christmas 2004! We are pleased to share with you our Christmas wishes and a short note on our family’s growth.

Dallin was born Jan. 2, 2004 and is now climbing up and down stairs, walking along furniture and trying to feed himself. We are looking forward to celebrating his 1st birthday soon and for the changes and excitement that await him (and us) during the coming year.

Elizabeth is now 2 years old and has grown a lot the past year. She loves being a big sister and thinks she is in charge of the world. She is a great helper and is learning to play & interact with Dallin. Although we are learning what the “terrible twos” is all about, most of the time Elizabeth is very fun and bursting with personality.

We hope you have had an enjoyable 2004 and look forward to excitement & changes in 2005. May the spirit of the Christmas season reside in your home throughout the year.

Steve Danielson

Happy Holidays from the land of Tennessee! This year has been a wonderful year. We have now been living in Tennessee for a year and 4 months and we love it here.

The most exciting news we have this year is the birth of our new baby, Ruby Valantine Danielson. She was born on November 4th. Our teeny-tiny darling daughter weighed in at 5 lbs. 8 oz., 19 inches long. We are so grateful to have her in our home. She is a very good baby and we are grateful for that.

Annica turned 3 this year. She is growing up fast. Her biggest accomplishment this year was being potty-trained! Yea! She loves to draw and to write/trace letters and can now write her name. Annica asks a lot of questions about words and how to pronounce them. She loves preschool and learning/making new things.

Steven turned 2 this year and boy is he a two year-old! He is very curious about everything and loves to get into things, especially when mommy is taking care of the baby. He’s still our sweet, little boy. Steven is starting to talk a lot more, although it is still hard to understand him sometimes. He has started to be interested in the alphabet and numbers and will repeat them when we say them.

Steve finished the first year of his Master’s and started the second this year. In May 2005, he will be graduating with his Master’s in Choral Conducting. He loves working with the choirs here and has gained a lot of good experience. In March, one of the choirs performed a piece that Steve wrote called “Mary’s Lamb,” based on the nursery rhyme, “Mary had a Little Lamb.” Steve is now the Sunbeam teacher in our ward and is learning how to teach some wild 4 year-old boys and one sweet girl.

This year, Angi and one of her friends started teaching preschool to Annica and her friend’s daughter, Macy. She has been having a lot of fun making up lessons to teach and crafts for the kids. Angi was also called as 2nd Counselor in the Primary Presidency this year. It has been a lot of fun working with the kids at church, even though she misses working in the Relief Society as a Visiting Teaching Coordinator (one of her favorite callings). J Angi is currently recovering from a c-section. Ruby was lying transverse (side-ways), so the doctor had to do a c-section. It was something unexpected and a lot harder on her body than natural birth, but at least the baby is safe and healthy.

We hope y’all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and remember that this is the season we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We love Him and our grateful for His birth, life, and atoning sacrifice for each of us.

Love,
Steve Danielson and Family
