La Javilla, Feb - March 2009: Elder Abreu, Elder Grullon | Companions: David Antonio Marquez | Comments: I was born in the Bahamas and grew up in Haiti. Since I was a child I had always had the desire to serve the Lord, my parents have always wanted a religious career for me, my dad wanted me to attend the Catholic Seminary and my mom wanted me to become a Pastor (Ironically I have satisfied both desires).
After being a member of two years, I was called to serve a two-year mission in the West Indies which turned to be a 26-month mission in the Dominican Republic.
It was the best two-year of my life so far. I came to love a people and a language which I grew up hating (sad to say). I have had many callings in the Church including serving in Elders Quorum and Branch Presidencies, I was a Mission Leader, Clerk. But my Two Favorite Callings are Fulltime Missionary and my actual calling which is Ward Young Men Advisor... I love working with the Youth and doing missionary work. There are what keep me going daily.
from the first time I have heard about the Church, I have had a certain testimony that it was true. After serving a mission and serving in different callings, and through experiences, fast and prayer and by saying others' experience and listening to their testimonies, I feel that my Testimony is stronger than what I thought it was: I know without a shadow of doubt that Jesus Christ lives and he is at the head of this Church. He lives and he has his living prophet on the Earth today: President Monson. Oh, I Thank thee O God for a prophet. |
